I had the flu and unfortunately had to go to the store to get medicine and wore a mask and everyone looked at me like I was the problem. Like oh ok you want these germs then?
I’m always delighted by the people who cough right next to me without a mask when I shop alone. But yeah people in masks are such an odd and rude crowd…
It's baffling. I have been lucky, I still mask in most places but nobody never said anything. My kids mask at school and were not teased or bullied, too, thankfully
I'd almost feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to come at me about masking. Motherfucker, I'm gonna have you bleeding from the ears and crying for your mommy in less than three minutes. Don't try me, you ignorant fucking lump.
Most people also grocery shop alone, in my experience. In fact when my grandma was still alive when I was little it was a Woman Thing to do while Man Is at Work.
I get the look because I still wear a mask in Floriduh. I told an elderly gentleman who was putting his groceries in his vehicle right next 2 me now is not the time 2 get sick with Medicaid Medicare CDC FDA HHS all being gutted.
A few months ago I wore a mask to the store because I had a long-term cough (I use an inhaler now & it almost immediately went away). An old lady in a wheelchair with several people with her pointed at me & made a comment. WTF? I should have loudly/wetly coughed & asked if I should remove the mask.
I always wear a mask at the store. Whenever anyone looks at me 'funny', I just turn my head away and start coughing like I'm gonna lose a lung. The clear off in a hurry. And I continue my shopping, knowing at least one person maybe has a different view about the purpose of masks.
Same I have a really infectious sounding caught thanks to a lung condition. It's always fun to see how fast people back away when I start coughing. They really seem to care about getting infected with something.
Oh my, how dare she mind her own f'ing business and wear a mask because she rather be safer and be less likely to either spread or get something the uncaring MAGA crew are willing to spread wildly and widely.
She could be sick. Immunocompromised. She could have cancer. She might just care about not getting strangers sick of she's got the flu. Why is courtesy such an issue in America?
Oh man! Later I saw a woman wearing shoes. On her feets! Walkin around in shoes like she was...I dunno, what wears shoes? A horse? Basketball player? Like a basketball playing horse! Oh, i had a laugh, I did. By myself, of course. Alone in my hovel. I was eatin mac n cheese soaked in warm tap water
That's me, every week. Only a few die-hard checkers and I still mask all the time. Oh well, he's welcome to die mad about it. I'd rather not test positive for Covid or catch a cold or the flu (which hasn't happened in five years).
Or is trying to protect people from a bug she knows she is spreading around. In a better world people would have started to behave like people in Asia who wear masks when ill because it's polite to not spread germs.
Oh these men. They have negative thoughts like women are shopping alone bc of masking, hairstyle, lack of make-up, too much make-up, weight, height, a cart full of vegan meats, a cart full of cookies, or a style of glasses they hate. Meanwhile the lucky woman has not noticed that they even exist.
Having pre-existing conditions, I mask at the local grocery store, because where I live there are all these other people in the store—customers, cashiers, stockers—& I don’t have time to ask all of them about their health & that of the people in their lives.
I've been sickly since I was young -- getting sick at least 1-2 times per month, sometimes more or less.
After COVID, wearing masks changed my life. I still get sick, but not as often after being out and about. Masks are freaking great for someone like me!
I've been sick lately and wear a mask when shopping. I hope it triggers the snowflakes who get upset over other people taking care of their health and the health of others. 🤷♀️
If someone actually has the nerve to get sassy with me for wearing a mask, I'm just gonna look at them and say "Well, stupidity is catching, and I don't wanna be a victim, like you."
I wear one while out and about because of my partner's compromised immunity. Recently I've seen a small uptick in other wearers, I suspect as a result of the cold/flu circulating in our area currently.
It might have been me! I have only one half of a lung left that functions and there are 4 cancer nodes there. My pulmonologist requires that I wear a mask when out shopping.

Seems like not having courage is a pretty big part of anti-maskers lives
They can't even make sense on the most basic level. What does shopping alone have to do with the fact you're still around other humans in public?
I learned this decades ago from Japanese visiting post docs.
It’s not the air quality as much as the norm of social responsibility
Nobody batted an eye.
People absolutely need to MIND THEIR OWN GD BUSINESS!
(If it’s not clear: I mask on public transportation, and when I have a cold. I’m pro vax, pro mask, pro abortion, anti Trump etc)

I drove home the importance of and the impact they could have on others.
All by herself!!!😱
