I’m convinced Eurovision was rigged. How did Israel get the highest public vote? In Ireland, there’s not much the left, right, centre agree on but “fuck Israel, free Palestine” is definitely one of them

More likely self filtering: people concerned with gaza more likely to avoid eurovision altogether, so that inflates the proportion of pro-israel eurovision voters in the Irish voting pool.
I don't think it's rigged by the organisation, but they absolutely need to re-think the current voting system, when we have a max of 20 votes per person but see people bragging that they voted 60/80/100 times with cards registered in different places.
absolutely. Israel constantly breaks the rules and the EBU let them get away with it. Most pertinent to this, a government agency buying ads encouraging people to vote for Israel's entries
as things stand Eurovision functions as pro-Israel propaganda and should be boycotted until they're booted out
I've read the theory, that the people that are in the 'fuck Israel' just didn't watch or didn't vote out of protest, so the Zionist vote had an outsized impact but idk
Every year Israel campaigns for people to vote 20 times, on the other hand, most non-zionist watchers vote once or twice, and I'd suspect, a lot of people abstained from voting DUE to Israel's participation & the EBU's ties to it.
The EBU should ban them, but I doubt anything would happen.
I'm convinced it was rigged for Israel to finish super high but not win so they didn't have to deal with the ~politics of it being hosted there next year.
Because the only people willing to vote are necessarily those who don’t wish to boycott, there’s a much higher chance of their voting being politically motivated towards Israel
It wasn't rigged (by which I understand the breaking of rules). It was, for sure, gamed to fuck, aided by the decision to open public voting before ANY of the performances in the final.
I'd be really interested to see figures for premature voting and multiple same-source voting. But no chance.
It was easily rigged with an orchestrated mass vote that the used the app + VPN =someone in 🇮🇱 could vote for 🇮🇱 (against the rules as you cannot vote for your own country) and state players took advantage. Usure if Netanyahu was angling for positive headlines or wanted to discredit the festival.
No rigging needed: the Israel supporters could vote 20 times for same entry while the Palestine supporters were doing stupid boycott thing so couldn't vote at all. Kind of tinsel rerun of the stupidity that gave us 'Trump Gaza' last November. Folk are slow learners.
It's because you can't vote against Israel, you could only vote for other countries, there was no consorted effort to all vote for one so Ireland's (pro Palestine) vote was spread across other countries while the Israelis all voted together for one, its a stupid easily manipulated system
Was Skylink the provider? They are very helpful with votes. Just ask any swing state in America who could not resist casting votes for an orange man. Unfortunately, our democratic leadership knew and did nothing to stop it. Now we have bowls of orange men.
For the last few years, we've seen people bragging that they voted 60/80/100 times with cards registered in different places. I've only ever seen this about voting for Israel, & often people who don't even watch.
I'd support keeping the 20 vote max but limiting it to a max of 5 votes for 1 country.
I don’t think it was manipulated, a colleague of RTE explained that. It’s probably just that too few people have participated in televoting. And people who were from other countries here have just voted for Israel, the Irish had no interest after the Lika party.
But, I have heard about massiv Commercials on YT and Instagram in mainland Europe for Vote for Israel.
That's make sense than we see complete West Europe vote for Israel with 12 Points.
Is this a manipulation, I think yes but not from ESC side from Israel side. He send a musician she have survived the 7.oct and Tell this anybody any time.
My opinion Israel should not have done that, just like Russia.
Of course Israel bought public votes using their technological expertise. That much is obvious.
But did the EBU suppress votes for Switzerland and divert them to Austria at the finale in order to prevent the PR disaster that the genocide state winning would have been?
Apparently the Israeli government paid for ' vote for us' adverts on YouTube during the life feed. That's what I read, but if I'm wrong I'll stand corrected.
For the whole week beforehand I was getting the ads! On almost every video I watched, and they didn't mention either eurovision OR Israel. It was just their singer saying "vote number 14" and a clip of the song.
Other countries have done adverts, but not to this extent. TONS of adverts, & lots of people voting more than the 20 "maximum" number of times. I'd support a ban of advertising, or banning the word "vote" from adverts, so it doesn't have as much of an effect on people who don't even watch the show.
And for many weeks beforehand; kept getting them even after blocking them, again and again. But the gaming of credit card voting with SIMs all over Europe absolutely takes advantage and is enhanced by the absence of those boycotting.
I don't think the public vote is a massive % of overall viewers, and I suspect most people vote for 1 or 2, whereas people trying to make a point voted 20x. You can't vote against a country, so easy for supporters to coordinate numbers.
+ big fans of the actual music who do vote 20 times often split their votes - we often do 10-12 for our faves, & split the rest among 2-3 more countries to show some support for them.
To be immediately outvoted by people who don't even watch the show but vote 20x for one entry is quite annoying.
Yeah, it's most likely certain people being motivated to vote repeatedly combined with all the pro votes going to one place while all the anti votes got split 25 ways.

Israel is absolutely shameless

#BDS always
I'm surprised too. I thought politics would sink Israel.
I was wrong. I don't need to invent a continent-spanning conspiracy to grapple with that fact.

That, or VPN and bots. 🤷🏼♀️
