The only time I’ve truly deepened my learning and skill as a teacher was from trainings and mentors I’ve sought out on my own.

I had some mandated PD when I worked in higher ed, and it was never the least bit useful.

I’ve worked in education for more than 12 years and I can’t even fill one hand with meaningful PD that came from my employer.

I was on the non-academic side, but the whole thing would’ve been better if the leadership had listened to the expertise and experience of staff instead of constantly telling us to look elsewhere.
