I was contemplating making my HP books available in a lending library I put in my front yard. Doing so means more people can enjoy the stories without enriching JKR. Good or bad plan?

I mean, one of the things in Charlotte's piece is an ask that if you're going to read them, buy used copies or take the movies out of a library/someplace that doesn't pay her royalties. Little library DEFINITELY counts as that. If you have the books, it saves someone else having to buy them.

I'm not looking to encourage people to read them, exactly, but I figure people will keep wanting to do that anyway and at least circulating the used books means a tiny bit of revenue she won't get. (I'd like to get more folks reading Percy Jackson though -it's intentionally diverse/inclusive)

I've re-read them recently and they are not without their flaws. The depiction of goblins has been widely discussed as anitsemitic. There's also a lot of fat-shaming or humor only based on a person's size or appearance. And Rita Skeeter is her first attempt at later anti-trans depictions in Strike.

Yeah, this. I recently did a run-down of how the books really are NOT what they get credited as - basically they are a surface story of tolerance and the power of love, but that is pretty lacking underneath. JKR just knew how to play the familiar tune & we all went with it, but it's all shallow.
