First time trying out Wine. (The new version 10) There are a number of Windows only programs I use, so I need to copy them over to see if they work well.

Yeah, Bottles does do a pretty good job. Be warned, though - each "bottle" (effectively a Windows container) can take up quite a bit of drive space! DLLs are installed separately for each bottle.
I'm glad you persisted with your Linux experiment! Linux is by no means perfect, but it's worth the effort. (I switched back in 2002 and I'm still learning every single day.)
Bottles can be a useful tool for managing and running Windows programs with Wine (or other runners). It does have some focus on games and game launchers but can be useful for other software as well.
People that rely on cell phones to try and do something better done with a tablet or even better with a real computer deserve the eye strain and frustration that they merit, and that they go through time after time. My sister-in-law comes to mind.
I have long been looking for a portable solution that allows your phone to be the brains of a laptop-like experience.
Now a market is emerging for this with a product called a "Lapdock" that allows you to have one device for productivity and mobile. Android is slowly making moves to this platform.
