How did you feel about Daybreak's combat. I actually really found it endlessly fresh all the way to the end. Something about positioning in RPGs keeps me engaged more than exploiting weakness.

Daybreak 1 I felt like was an interesting experiment but unrefined and suffered a bit as a result. The field combat was bland and the lack of A readable timeline really hurt. But daybreak 2 fixed the issues and was pure joy.
I haven't played Beyond yet, but I assume this is their blueprint for combat going forward, and im here for it. I really liked the core combat, the gem/driver system, and how character kits were built. I have Daybreak 2 on my table, and I will definitely get it done before Beyond hits in English.
Ya, I think this is something they'll keep working on to perfect much like they did with the earlier combat style. I feel like it kind of hit a point where there was nothing further they could refine in reverie, so they needed to change something for daybreak. And now they're refining the new style.
