Mathematically speaking its highly unlikely we're alone, however that same math also concedes that the universe is so large that life on other planets could've emerged and died off millions of years ago. Or life could exist currently on planets an unfathomable distance away
I used to not think this... but looking at the current state of the world, ive upgraded my personal top ranked fermi solution is that life just ends up killing themselves
Exactly! Some remain unconvinced. That’s what Sagan would say summing up how we pathetic we humans really are. He was just cooler about it saying it. The duality of everything in the universe. We are God, therefore we are nothing. Lol! I made my kids watch Contact over and over.😎 Hip Grandpa 101
Did Sagan ever say anything like…. Conservatives are just a waste of space, flesh, water and air, and cause most of the pollution, especially noise pollution?
Have you seen this map? Earth/Sol system is like a single drop of water in the Pacific Ocean. Less than that even. If there were intelligent aliens even in, say, the Andromeda galaxy we'd never have meaningful contact or really know they were there https://newatlas.com/space/interactive-map-universe-galaxies
its biiiiiggg. unfathomable. the wildest shit to me is thinking ~200 billion stars in our galaxy is a shit load, and currently, we cant even manage feasible communication with the nearest star.
... and then, you realize there are ~10-20 TRILLION WHOLE FUCKING GALAXIES in the observable universe.

What would Carl Sagan do?
Maybe he had a theory on this….
