Anti-ICE protesters are blocking both sides of the 101 Freeway near the Alameda Street exit in DTLA. The CHP has since closed that portion of the freeway.

While I appreciate the sentiment, I'm afraid this will give Trump an excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act and declare martial law. He's itching to do it and will get ZERO pushback from the SecDef or Congress.
Why are there only two options? This is really, really stupid, as he WILL invoke the Insurrection Act. What a bunch of selfish a--holes for a few seconds of self congratulations. We will remember this.
Just getting off work. Protest been large & disruptive since I arrived 4 hours ago w freeway closed & many customers late or forced to find different routes in. Massive lines of police cars constantly streaming by. It was great work! Very proud to be an Angeleno tonight. All power to the protesters.
People need to understand that protests are MEANT TO BE DISRUPTIVE. If they weren't disruptive, you'd ignore them, just like you ignore the issue they're protesting about.
Regardless of if you agree: complain to your representative to do something about the protesters, but don't blame/attack them.
Every Democrat in Congress should be organizing their constituents in similar demonstrations. Do something to earn your salaries and lifetime benefits Democrats.
If a bunch of fascists supported by a majority of the country was trying to deport the Irish, yeah, I'd say don't be flying Irish flags when trying to say the Irish immigrants belong in America.
I mean he's all but explicitly targeting Mexicans as a stand in for all immigrants. I don't think waving that flag is wrong, I was just making an observation. I agree with and stand in solidarity with the protesters
This is why flooding the zone works. Californians are blocking a highway waving Mexican flags which will further unite the MAGA base while Elon gets away with shutting down USAID and controlling the federal payment systems at Treasury.
Maybe but this is a much easier issue to rally around. People don't understand large scale economics or bureaucracy. They do understand violent deportations. Any large scale movement in the US is gonna start fragmented and focused on seperate issues. It will be up to organizers to bridge those gaps.
I've never understood why our closest neighbor to the south is somehow an enemy, pretty sure if we actually worked with them in a cooperative fashion we'd both be miles ahead of where we are now
Enemy? I remind you the USA maintained strong alliances with Mexico and Canada for a very long time. NAFTA. USMCA. Massive amount of mutual cooperation, respect and interdependence. For much of my life we didn't need a passport to cross the border. We benefit from great neighbors. .
I know they're not the enemy, but Trump and his goons and fashist followers think Mexico is somehow to blame for their life and what they haven't done with it, would be nice if we can get rid of drumpy and the next one actually brings us together better than before, provided we get a next chance
They are just creating crisis and scapegoats. The hypocrisy of a Drumpf that blew out his septum using illegal drugs in the 1980s. If there is no demand than there are no drugs.
Putin encouraged a migrant crisis out of Syria to destabilize European consensus on immigration. Betting Trump seeks to do the same in this hemisphere. Once migrants start buckling the limited social services in Mexico, the political blowback will force Mexico to strengthen their southern border.
