If they think the swiss were "politically neutral" they should look into how difficult reclaimation was after that war they were so famous for being neutral in.
Nazis grabbing loot: Yes, sir! No problem, have a good day!
Jews/invaded countries they were stolen from: Got a death cert? No? Fuck off.
Me when I only look at the surface level of a nation’s history and attribute religion to their national identity as if religion is a factor in every national identity
paradox historiography brained but too dumb to understand victoria guy be like but wait you're in a province that's swiss culture and catholic this doesn't make sense
Oh God imagining a guy that doesn't understand the Paradox mechanics are meant to be general idea of how this stuff works and actually thinks a province marked Catholic means everyone in it is Catholic
In the German speaking part (which is about 70%), Zwingli (and even Luther) was much more influential than Calvin. Still, around half the population remained Catholic then, so we had some wars about that...
Also, Calvin didn't make himself a lot of friends by enacting a reign of terror in Geneva..
Well, there's a Wikipedia page to get an overview https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reformation_in_Switzerland (TL;DR: It's a lot more convoluted than one might think, and Calvin was mostly only relevant to Geneva). Also, the majority of the Swiss are atheist or agnostic nowadays, so it's mostly of historical interest.
