I like him and if I just listened to a waxahatchee sogg, go ahead and autoplay him, but when I'm listening to ambient music I really don't need him in to pop up in the mix
I've heard a couple of his songs on The Spectrum on SiriusXM. As and old dude I can hear some definite Neil Young influence in his style and guitar play. Great to listen to.
It’s not a mind blowing sound but it’s good music done well. I on the other hand had Whoopi Goldbergs biography recommended to me, so who knows what I’ve been up to online
I am an audiophile. For me, Spotify sounds like it was all digitized in 1995. Its like taking you to an art gallery and forcing you look at everything through those silly gimmick glasses with the louvres...
Not having Spotify or knowing who mj lendernan is, but I’m guessing someone is whining their music should be pushed more, or Spotify is pushing mj on tim every time he opens the app or plays a stream (if that’s how it works).
I remember getring Cerulean Salt on CD when I worked im radio. That and Parquet Courts, Light Up Gold were the higlight of my year. Still listening to both!
As someone who is great at categorizing musicians by hyperspecific sound, both songs i know by MJ have given me a lot of difficulty. Too ballady for punk, too punk for ballads.
mj lenderman is like what if a guy had a bit of mark linkous, vic chesnutt, mike cooley, paul westerberg, warren zevon, elliott smith, jason molina, j mascis and neil young in him. not hard to understand.
I agree with all of that, but crust punk is its own thing. It’s not just an aesthetic, which this guy doesn’t meet, it’s also a style that is unique from other forms of punk.
