"liberal Zionist" is apparently a fixed phrase in which "liberal" doesn't (only) mean (or contrast with) any of the things it can in other contexts. Reminds me of the ways none of the English names of the major movements in Judaism mean what outsiders expect.

Tbf the terms are floating and I think most people that call themselves that don't know what they mean.

Liberal in the American sense just means they don't hate minorities generally and believe in capitalism.

Progressives just usually means that they support social safety net policies.
