Precisely my point... often ignored by the industry. Just creates a "spillover" predation effect on GNBs. It's basic Ecology101. But perpetuates the need for predator control. Treat the cause, not the symptom I say.

My bug with the RSPB is that it gets public money… and I am sure does plenty of counts on the many reserves… but don’t release it to the public.
That doesn’t seem right.
The @gwct.org.uk does release data on bird counts through its #BigFarmlandBirdCount (BFBC) initiative.
This annual survey provides a snapshot of bird populations on British farmland. The results are released annually since it started.
The Moorland Association also releases data on counts.
Yes, but seems reluctant to release data on breed and release game birds, specifically where and when and numbers shot, and associated lethal predator control figures. It is these figures I'd most like to analyse.

Pheasants….. Too Many.
Red Legged Partridge…. Too Many.
Too often it is so obviously completely out of scale with the holding capacity of an area which creates all sorts of follow-on issues.
