The internet informs me it's been around in the UK since the 1930s, and I've been eating it as long as I can remember (the 1970s) in both smooth and crunchy formats.

I love it and loath Marmite. But I spent my first 11 years in Canada, and then was a teenager in Germany in the 1990s so am not representative of UK tastes
