Not sure about that, if you look at how much the CCP needs to sustain a massive export surge to prevent anaemic domestic consumption from triggering a severe Chinese overcapacity crisis then the Trump vs Xi duel looks more like mutually assured destruction

They also have a huge market with 1.4 billion people.
They can survive and I agree an authoritarian government can impose more pain to their citizens than a democracy.
It has a way more advanced dictatorship than Trump (for now) and absolutely zero "check and balance", while the USA is still a federal state.
Spoiled Americans not.
