I feel like this is FUD. They said to use it in relation to the telcos getting owned end to end by China. If you have proof I’d love to see it though so I can move off it
Whatsapp is E2EE, but Facebook can see much more metadata on who talks to who than Signal can. Also there's far more "target surface" in the app. Also Signal always notify you when keys change (show as device change notices), WhatsApp doesn't by default
Hmmm I’m probably running on old information then. I knew at one point they claimed it but it was only client to server. Guess that changed. What about the other Facebook things like location, time, etc do they gather all that telemetry?
signal doesn't have a backdoor and instead have taken a really strong stance on the EU's unfolding requirements for having them by saying they simply won't relay in those countries if it becomes a requirement
signal probably has a backdoor, so does telegrma, any centralized messaging service does. Your phone can record your keystrokes, your phone can collect on-screen data without you knowing. Your entire phone OS has a back door.
yeah i read further into that earlier today and hadnt come back to comment further yet, thank you! i still maintain that your phone OS has a backdoor with many security flaws that can be taken advantage of
Great. You have to ask the person for some verification of. But I've made a few open calls for sources on reddit and asked them to reach me on signal and it's been great.
