I literally wrote a book similar to this a few months ago and I could never come up with purposefully leaving behind monopoly money in your get away bag.
... oh, and because I'm a capitalist -- and this is news story is a weirdly topical moment with my book series -- the first book of the series is free to read on my profile for the month of December!
Muskrat is getting them to Anticipatory Compliance to keep their Jobs! Trump sent out the Text to get full MAGA onboard! 80% of the talent will be eliminated! Then sued by Trump and Musk!
Sirhan Sirhan did it! Lol wtf
They will find the real killer soon. So many cameras nowadays you can run but you can't hide.
A crazy distraction before the real circus. Guy does look like Jake G. What twists to come back to Rod Serling!
He's fuckimg with them right now. Within two years, there will be a movie of this, and it'll go down in history as both a folk legend and one of the greatest unsolved mysteries ever. The murder TV shows will be all over this one.
Watch a 2014 Ted talk titled "the pitch forks are coming" Amazingly it seems Trump, Musk etc have created the base that will ultimately destroy them...and America as we know it. This is the "civil war" so many have been predicting.
I partially disagree. Yes, there are weightier matters than this murder. However, the social significance of the story, and the focus it has brought to the American Healthcare crisis should not be underestimated.
LOST: my backpack with a Tommy Hilfiger jacket and Monopoly money in it. The last time I remember having my backpack was in Central Park. If found please contact me so I can retrieve my backpack which is mine and no one else’s. Please share for visibility so that I can recover my backpack, thank you
He's definitely making a spectacle of it.
I mean, even the actual shooting, he stepped into the light in a camera frame - he could easily have stayed in the shadows, used a revolver to not leave brass, ditched the backpack in a river, etc.
Is there a river in Central Park? He rode in there, swapped his clothes and dumped the bag bc it's the only part of the city you can go w/o cameras. The way they think they've traced him coming out is back tracking him to get more of his face and watching surveillance around the park for his exit
I've been feeling the same thing, but reluctant to say as much because of moral qualms that still prevent me from wholeheartedly regarding this guy as a hero.
Yes! Murder is wrong, but maybe we've been pushed too far...
IDK. It's not where I'd start the revolution, but no one in their right mind would ask me to start a revolutions...
This. Because it's one thing to be a bad person. It's another to root for someone to be murdered. It speaks volumes that people are speaking this way when they claim to be on "The Good Side" of politics.
No and this person is delusional AF if they think this is about simple politics. This is about a society that is sick of being used and treated like livestock. That society is finally fighting back.
Lmao only in a world this fucking crazy would this be considered murder. This is called justice. And if justice is truly served then more CEOs will die. It's time to litter the streets with the corpses of your oppressors.
You're right, he should've written more clain denial appeals before whoever he's avenging died! It sounds like the right number would've been a multiple of 10, since 9 out of every 10 were being auto-rejected by UnitdHealthcare's AI.
He's getting global love. For years those of us who live in countries with universal healthcare have been looking at the slaughterhouse that is the US healthcare system with mounting horror. We don't have to experience the inhumanity to be angered by it.
There were several things he was being investigated for. His death is extremely bad actually, because now that investigation will likely be closed and nothing will happen to the company or any other company for that matter. They will continue getting away with this shit.
That is exactly why I think his wife or the board set all this up and have the police and media on a wild goose chase after a “disgruntled” employee or customer.
What’s interesting is that the original game, The Landlord's Game, was designed by Elizabeth Magie (1904) to teach people about the inequalities inherent in real estate taxation (land value) and social privilege. The game as it exists just glorifies capitalism.
If true it's epic. I said to my spouse this morning that I hoped the backpack was filled with scrape paper, meaning it was left on purpose. Monopoly money is better.
dontcha think protecting gun rights is more important than protecting a few billionaire/millionaire CEOs? I've heard gun rights are more important than the lives of kids. Sounds like a CEO or two, or twenty or two hundred or more,
is worth the price of the right to have guns...🤷♀️
Suspect is presumed to have passed Go and collected $200 before buying a hotel on Park Ave. Police could search the area, but good luck paying for parking.
Give no way to justice under the law, the law is moot to justice. Neither justice nor the law provides a path to civil order as trump’s legal tactics displayed to all. I do not support murder but I empathize w the tragedy of denied existential care with no legal recourse or time to seek recourse.
He’s making a statement here. I love how the police are working harder than they have ever worked to solve any crime before. They’d never do this for the murder of a fellow proletariat.
It sounds like he is sending a message: The monopoly money is fake, just like the health insurance that people can't really afford to pay for is not "insurance" and doesn't actual cover much of anything. it puts people into debt, or they end up dying because they can't afford what they need.
Possible interpretation is he 'bought' his way out of jail for this.
It could also be that money means nothing if you already have it.
Or, money is worthless no matter how much you have.
I haven't read the book referenced so I don't know which way to go or if those are all right or totally wrong.
Obviously that's what we need to pay the cops with when they demand more funding. Because policing is hard, guys! Super hard! And they're so good at it! Super good! [he said sarcastically]
To insert a note of sanity: I believe the election of a convicted felon has undone everyone's faith in the rule of law. Before we go too deep in the rabbit hole, let's remember what life in the Middle Ages was like without it.
True. But I'm thinking more of the institutionalized revenge that took the place of law. To be clear: A felon SHOULD be in jail not the white house and an executive who denies life saving care should be too. THAT is the society we should aim for. Institutionalized revenge has a bad history
But until we get there, I blame the election of Trump for undoing our sense of a social contract. I think the astonishing events we are witnessing are ultimately a product of the triumph of Trump and the death of real law.
2, i foresee great violence and great change. The willfully stupid want to burn it all down and they cheated and won.. the smart are angry because they’ve been lied to by their leaders but followed the rule of law and norms and lost. The smart aren’t going to walk politely into the ovens anymore.
1, I very much agree about the institutional revenge. I do also see this as a possible inflection point. I just don’t think that people will continue to turn the cheek and follow the norms or respect anything or anyone. Trump and big money and monopolies have corrupted the foundations of our society
I think it's not a question of should he or shouldn't he get away with it or was he or wasn't he doing a good thing. It SHOULD be a question of "How do we get to a society where vigilantes aren't wanted?". We left anything resembling that society in November. How do we get it back, or do better?
The saddest part of this story to me is how much effort is going into finding this guy just because he killed someone rich. Any other random citizen would get way less effort.
If it's what I have been suspecting all along. Disinformation. Bullets with misleading messages probably nothing to do with the actual motive weird gun to investigate and learn about burner phone left behind a "very distinctive backpack" the authorities were shure would help track dude monopoly cash
Could it be a message? 😬 I'm only half kidding. One the one hand Monopoly is all about amassing the most $ among the competitors. On the other, "Monopoly money" is almost short hand for something that's completely worthless. 🤔
Until now this affair does not have a catchy name because the police don't do nicknames anymore, he did not scribble some demented manifesto on reddit and he does not want to get caught. Is this now officially The Monopoly Murder?
Only the version of Monopoly that...became a monopoly. The OTHER version of Monopoly was about how cooperation made everyone secure, but you can guess what happened to THAT way of playing the game....
UHC group owns an insurer, the main company that handles claim payouts (Change Healthcare) , a pharmaceutical company and when Change Healthcare was hacked and couldn’t pay providers (feb 2024), they started buying their medical practices.
I’m guessing that’s the reason for the Monopoly money.
Presidential nominee in the making? the new rule book is amazing, this is a "witch hunt" any news sources saying otherwise are fake. Am I right? Or am I right?

Damn, dude!
monopoly money

But once the frog feels the real heat, it jumps out.
I have a feeling we are coming to the jumping out part...
I mean, even the actual shooting, he stepped into the light in a camera frame - he could easily have stayed in the shadows, used a revolver to not leave brass, ditched the backpack in a river, etc.
And I’m ok with that.
IDK. It's not where I'd start the revolution, but no one in their right mind would ask me to start a revolutions...

What size was the jacket that was in it?
I’ll wait…
Would be an excellent way to create a mass distraction to get away if needed.
Too bad. Tots and Pears.
if they don't catch him (🤞) or find new clues in the first few days, likely not to find him at all.
is worth the price of the right to have guns...🤷♀️

This dude is just letting us see the different tiers of justice on public display. Rules for thee, not for me.
Would a similar murder in NYC get this much attention if the victim wasn't a millionaire?
We all know the answer to that.
How many other people were murdered on the same day but there is a 50k reward for this one??? Why not all of them???
D. B. Cooper. Mark my words.
It could also be that money means nothing if you already have it.

But I'm just guessin'.
Them: What do you mean "Everything"?
Me: What part of "Everything" do you not understand?
That’s 999’s more hours they would spend looking for our killer
His name's Colonel Mustard, with the revolver, on Sixth Avenue.
He might Go to Jail.
I’m guessing that’s the reason for the Monopoly money.
