There are hundreds of recent standup specials streaming, including by "canceled comedians", and people used to literally get arrested for telling jokes. Including 1 who said never punch down. Spare me the faux outrage...

I really like Anthony Jeselnik's (https://www.cracked.com/article_40356_art-is-getting-away-with-it-anthony-jeselnik-has-an-important-message-for-other-edgy-comics.html) take on Andy Warhol's quote "Art is getting away with it". Dave Chappelle wasn't funny, him and comedians like him, are rude assholes who take unfunny cheap shots at marginalized people - that's being a bully and massive douche bag!

Man, here's the rub... disparaging whole communities IS comedy. It's what they do. Maybe the answer is to give them less power, and have better leaders instead of relying on the folks with the dick jokes to give us the news. A lot of great comedy comes from saying disturbing things that make people think about their own views. Why do we consider trans jokes a punch down, for example? Because they exist.
