how is this "unprecedented access" different than what was happening before the demonstrable moron who is bad at business and economics started levying tariffs on long-time allies?
The UK is still so fucked up from Brexit it doesn't even make anything. Relax America, you'll still shift container ships laden with corn syrup and subpar ingredients to the brainwashed masses.
But aren’t you guys trying to cozy up to the EU again. Good luck. You guys broke up with the nice guy and now you’re flirting with a psychopath. RUN, run back to the nice guy!
Its fine, the shills have been out in force to assure us that nothing has changed, and that all chlorinated chicken and steroid beef will come with bits of paper claiming that it's not. There's a small chance that on occassion someone might read one of the bits of paper. So that's okay then.
The UK government has made it clear that they will not allow the import of beef raised on growth hormones. So there is very little US beef that would be able to be imported.
There is stupid, there is moronic, there is "zero brain cells", and then, down there where the intellectual power of a rock with zero silicon content lies, there is Trump and his cult.
I'm not saying this lightly, eh! I've been a witness to George Bush's junior dilapidation of human ingenuity. I've read a lot about the negative IQ actions of Nixon in Vietnam. I've read about the dismayingly stupid tariffs during the Great Depression.
This is the sloppiest chart I’ve ever seen. External revenues? No, they’re internal because Americans have to pay that $6B! What’s the 2 10%’s up top with the leftover empty row on the bottom? He sees it as winning because the government is taking in more $! It’s a tax on ALL OF US!
Its been a few years since Econ 101 classes, but the foundational principles of economics don't change. Even basic math would tell you that this is loosing.
10% tariffs on everywhere means US citizens pay at least 10% on anything imported. At least 145% on anything from China and 25% extra for all cars made abroad apart from in the UK - even American cars made in Mexico!
I want Trump to abandon the tariff debacle he has created, but that doesn’t seem likely. When faced with the reality of truckers and dockworkers at the Los Angeles ports losing their jobs, he responded that it was a good thing because it meant we’re losing less money.
Notice how this is presented “UK Tatriffs” can be interpreted as Tarriffs in the UK on US goods. Or, what we UK Tarriffs when goods arrive to the US. 2. In the heading, it says US and UK are charging each other 10%. In the lower part, 10% isn't displayed when showing change in tarriff.
If I’m reading this right, our stable genius just negotiated a cut in our trade surplus with the U.K. No wonder they were the first to announce the deal.
The UK gets things cheaper than they did a week ago but still much more than a month ago. It's a hollow victory for a British Government that becomes more unpopular by the day.
Art of the Deal means: zero sum game. Trump gains something; you actually lose something. If more people realized this, trump wouldn’t be able to buy a nickel if he offered a quarter.
He was desperate to announce "a deal" so they quickly put out this announcement, which is not a legally binding trade agreement but a high-level strategic declaration of intent. The details are still to be worked out, but they weren't concerned with that, just with the PR of the announcement.
Well! I won't be buying anything that comes from the USA especially foodstuff. fuck knows what they put in the food chain, but their factory farming sucks, the UK is not that far behind them now either
It will for sure. He’s already given the force more power and I know he’ll call martial law. Violence makes his pinky twitch so for him, perfect birthday.
I’ve been reminding people of a few things- make sure you are prepared with your bike locks to be unrecognizable on the street. 😎
Ao we will buy fruit and meat from UK when Argentina and Brazil has better and it is closer. Cannot wait for those UK grown papayas, water melons and mangos in January!
So we had a surplus and now we don’t-right?! These ppl running things are complete idiots!! Every time Pete Navarro is mentioned- I’m like- that dude had to be pardoned…he’s a criminal but yea…let him be the mastermind of US trade! 🤦🏼♀️ btw- the guy has a net worth of A million $$-that’s it!
Americans really got the deal when they let the trump. He doesn’t support the constitution, allows people to be ripped off the streets and thrown in jail and steals/cheats at every opportunity even on the golf course.
I read it as us folks in the UK will be paying more for US goods. Including things we don't even want, like chlorinated chicken and hormonal beef #NoWinners
If, y’all don’t buy it, your stores won’t import it. Nothing Krasnov or your government can do about that. Just like with Teslas! No one can FORCE any of us to buy anything! 😁
I used to think that Trump didn't understand tariffs. But considering that it's the US government that gets the revenue, so Trump believes that money is then his. Yes, he almost definitely knows what he's doing. Corrupt to the very end.
He’s an idiot. Much of Europe wouldn’t touch our beef or many of our food products because of all the crap we feed our cattle or additives/hormones/pesticides/sweeteners in our other food.
Why would I (living in a village in south Germany) buy American food if I can buy from at least three Bavarian farmers in the neighborhood? If I want to know how they make their produce I just have to knock…
I'm pretty certain that orange rapist felon has written as many books as he's read in his life. Zero. He's an expert at nothing other than being a piece of shit.
Our supermarkets are already saturated with american goods. I don't want want the animal feed coming to UK as we tried to eradicate BSE but America not so much
Sorry, but it makes no difference to me - I’m avoiding buying products made in the US, wherever I can. I have to get a new PC later this year and that means I will not be spending on Dell or HP. That’s how it is 🤷♂️🤷🤷♀️
Total trade between Canada and the USA is over 900 billion dollars. Yet Trump continues to say he doesn't need Canada. Since there is nothing we produce that they need.
Looks like “The Art of the Deal” has been rebranded to “The Art of the Steal”. Apparently, getting “the best deals“ now means paying more while others pay less. At this rate, will be negotiating ourselves into last place. Guess we’re really making history, just not the kind we were hoping for.
That is exactly the point of the tariffs. Others lower, US raises = theoretically more US manufacturing due to price competitiveness overseas. I am not a fan of any of this in execution, but let’s not pretend this is some newly discovered repercussion.
Inevitably, the right wing press in the UK are calling this a huge failure for Starmer (no criticism of the tangerine toddler though, obviously) and that Brits are getting ripped off big time.
Meanwhile desperate car buyer Drumpf already negotiating against himself in the China showroom while the savvy and experienced car salesman from China just sits back and smirks
The U.K. is probably going to boycott American goods. A reminder that this was never about making America great “again”. It was only ever about destroying America to rule over the ashes so he can hurt people he doesn’t like.
You have been officially winning since his inauguration, if you don't clap you will be detained by ICE⚡⚡ and interned in a new reeducation centre in El Salvador
Brits hate the tariffs just as much, but the #Felon47 régime wants to tag on hormone injected beef & chlorinated chicken 🤮 amongst other substandard foods (by European standards) to the deal.
So now tRump's grand success, NOT!, has him wandering fr 1 country's reps to another flogging his pathetic trade deals.
Will he have a Memorial day sale like a mattress store?
OK, DT you need 2 sweeten this deal!
Then he'll purse his lips like he's gonna back out.
Seen it b4.
So the increased tariff on goods coming from the UK will decrease demand which will cause less goods to come from the UK, which will decrease the tariff revenue. The regime is full of idiots.
The difference between him and most grifters is they don’t have a cult following that intimidates, threatens, harasses, and attacks anyone that tries to hold them accountable.
For conservatives, Republicans like Lord Dampnut it's about his own power and businesses primarily, but perhaps also American business, CEOs, selling more product, making more profits; it's not about US consumers getting cheaper goods. Some US workers may get a small bit of the additional profits.
The thing is, Lord Dampnut wants support from the right leaning, fascist friendly economic establishment, the elite, and he knows the conservative, Republicans base, their voters, who may be consumers or workers, are far too stupid and compliant to object to the arrangements.
The thing with malignant narcissists is that contradictory information doesn't even get in there. The tariff thing is the only policy idea that Trump has ever really had.
And now people are telling him he didn't really understand it in the first place. He doesn't even hear that shit, guaranteed.
...and the UK market he's claiming we'll have access to appears to be comprised primarily of things we produce in the US...
Beef, cereal grains, fruits, vegetables, tobacco...?
"Trump is not only willing to lie, but he doesn't get bothered by it, doesn't feel guilty about it, isn't preoccupied by it," Schwartz said. "There's an emptiness inside Trump. There's an absence of a soul. There's an absence of a heart."
I'd say that's a safe bet. He's read it as many times as he's read Bonfire of the Vanities.
But also, he's finding out that you can't bully the whole world into being screwed. You're watching a man who has surrounded himself with sycophants and neophytes encounter hostility and resistance.
Sounds like a win to me. American companies get more business. There aren’t too many things that mid-Americans can afford from Britain. I guess that’s one way to tax the rich.
You do realize that the 10%tariffs on U.K. products will only be eliminated once the U.K. fulfills their obligations to the trade deal.
So, it is in U.K.’s best interests to satisfy their obligations as quickly as possible.
The gotcha on this is that the US can sell American products in the UK that meet UK standards. Most US meat didn't (and still doesn't) meet UK standards (for reasons ranging from animal welfare to the US meat getting a chlorine wash), and it'll get much worse with fired inspectors.

Time to take action will you show up and defend your freedom. We are stronger together. The rich wage war and it the poor who die.
Yes, the Americans are paying more. But where does that extra money go into Donald's pocket? He needs to be impeached, add removed, and his assets are seized along with Elons.
Google UK is your friend on that one. To anybody familiar with quality chocolates of Belgium or Switzerland - or even industrial British stuff - U.S. output tastes distinctly of acid reflux. It's truly vile.
Special mention to those nasty things that look like 'poo' Emojis covered in silver foil.
Things I wish I never knew 🤣 they're eating the cats, they're eating the poo tasting chocolate 🤣 Thank you for this in-depth analysis. I'm going to recall my American family, it's time they moved. Nevermind the politics, they deserve poo-free chocolate.
This! Used to work in a place where returning staff would fill a communal biscuit barrel with sweetmeats from their travels. Somebody came from the USA with these once. You'd only ever eat one, the barrel contents never shifted & eventually quietly binned. The only time anybody would swear at work!
Damned right we won't. But I'd happily portion out Lucky Charms and let the kids have them instead of sweeties. They have about the same nutritional content but might work out cheaper 😜
There was a time American products were of excellent quality. The shift in materials cheapened them and affected the quality. I have a box fan built in 1946. USA made. Solid steel. Still works great. Can't say what they make today will still be working in 60+ years.
Wait till you factor in the 10% decline in the dollar - that’s had a greater impact than all the tariff nonsense.
And no - none of us are buying anything from the US anymore…
If Trump keeps making these deal, Americans will be paying more for much less and the rest of the world will be lining up to make deals like this. Americans will be the suckers thanks to Trump. Unless they want to buy a Rolls-Royce.

I’ll pass whatever the tariffs thanks…
But Trump and Trumpism are way worse.
Now I want a martini... and will never drink bottled water again.
(Hmmm... not such a bad thing, now that I think about it.)
How do you reason with that?
So it will be easier for Americans to buy a Rolls Royce, Jaguar, or Aston Martin.
That's good news for billionaires, Trump's favorite people!
Rolls Royce - German owned BMW
Jaguar Land Rover - Chinese owned TATA
Basically he did a deal with Europe and china 🤪🤯
This is Trump’s ‘big deal’?
Cheers!

I've looked all over Yorkshire and can't find the tea plantations.
You may be out of luck with your shopping list.
I can't wait:

They know if you schmooze him, they'll get the better deal.
Xi is toying with 🍊💩.
Not many in the UK have a moral compass though, as we've seen from the recent local elections.
He may speak at 4th grade level but he reads at kindergarten level.
Maybe the Kardashians? But who else?
This is so absurd it makes my brain hurt.

Or, he knows it's bullshit and is planning on shifting income tax for the rich over to tariff tax for all other Americans.
Dumb people don't get this and we have over 70 million dumb people, at best estimate.
Questions is, what else is coming.
And now people are telling him he didn't really understand it in the first place. He doesn't even hear that shit, guaranteed.

His ghost writer said that he couldn't get him to read it after it was done.

American products were never great quality, but people wanted a piece of what America stood for. No longer.
#trump has damaged the brand and it will take decades to repair.
Thinking of buying le Creuset instead, definitely not buying lodge again
And no - none of us are buying anything from the US anymore…
