Actually, sentiment and bias analysis have been around for a while. If we can get the @latimes.com reporters to post their stories on @bsky.app , with the open firehose, any academic or researcher can analyze everything they post.
And nothing will ever be as bad as the cuecat!

This, courtesy of the owner of the LA Times, is the worst “tech solution for journalism” idea since the CueCat.

Because I think competition for journalism/journalists & news sources is important for a free press to thrive.

In all these areas, it is perverse to withhold provisional assent.
If Person A says ‘X happened’ and Person Z says ‘-X happened,’ how will AI *correctly* tell us what happened?
I think that’ll be especially important in breaking news.
It will take sometime but if AI TECH can be used to solve complex problems it can be used to determine the difference between TRUTH, disinformation and misinformation.
IT will also be able to determine who are operatives.:)
Greatest waste of plastic since AOL CDs
We need to create real town square type environments where people debate openly about almost everything. We have to counter the bubbles social media naturally creates
So long as "their team" provides an easy path to "winning" - NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
Everything else is "fake news"
The best we have - know FOX News well, but still refuse to address it head on.
So...
UK gets BREXIT
US gets MAGA
Bias is one thing.
Misinformation is another.
A decades long coordinated effort to direct the the fascist oligarchy with false narratives, discount verifyable journalism, and grow a global cult of popularity - is yet something different in itself.

That asshole.
No need!
He has created an army of a bunch of corrupted ppl within to do his bid.
The Philadelphia Inquirer is a good newspaper and will continue to be one because it is a public benefit corporation.
You could help fund new papers by hiring away the staff of the LA TIMES, NYT, WaPo and every other billionaire owned paper.
Of course Murdoch, Sinclair & Malone are already greedy bastards perpetuating massive lies, dis & mis-information information
Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite & David Brinkley are rolling over in their graves
Have the LA Times writers post their original texts here, and then we can compare it to the 'sanitized for you protection' version to show how ridiculous they became.
Already smiling at the possible results.
I was working on a similar system, but big media generally hides articles behind a paywall.
I BEG you, PLEASE READ. It has merit. We must demand a recount!

Which is to say, that's the fake last name that the founder took on after the company tanked. Now he's an election conspiracy theorist.
A far better use of AI would be to find the truth and verify it, to make it think like a scientist out to prove their theory.
Sure, some things are opinions, and that is fine, but for journalism, facts and truth matter more than opinions.

The Media doesn’t seem to know the difference and gives breath and a megaphone to liars and conspiracy theorists. Today’s journalists practice “lazy journalism”: quoting instead of investigating.
It just also relies on people treating others respectfully and with common human decency, even over the internet.
Methinks that might be a deterrent.

L.A. Times: "I know you are, but what am I?"
opinions are what got us in this mess
That's giving AI a lot more 'opinion' than it should have.
Please explain “both sides of the exact same story”.
In news reporting, facts are facts, correct??
People are expressing THEIR OPINION.
And this is why people dilettantes like him should not be involved in journalism.
We are running out of trustworthy news organizations, the 4th estate has essentially been captured for the most part by conservatives.
BILLIONAIRES SHOULD NOT OWN NEWSPAPERS AND JOURNALISTS SHOULD NOT BEND THE KNEE TO THEM

And now your publisher wants to approve headlines?
Some have already resigned, but journalism jobs are scarce
He has his own state run media and will dismantle the constitution, so free speech will be a memory 😂😂 #sostupid
#revote @latimes.com
While hundreds, thousands, of employees are out of jobs in a field with few openings available.
They are still trying to get needed local information out to the public
