“Don’t You (Forget About Me)” tops the charts 40 yrs ago today
Jim Kerr was at a French hotel when he got the news. “I went down to the bar .. no one there except the barman. I said, ‘What’s the best champagne you’ve got?’
He said, ‘Who for?’
I said, ‘Me & you & whoever else comes thru the door.’

I think
But it's stellar Simple Minds.
(Also, another story that shows men should listen to their wives.)
Not because of the song, I don't think. ☺️
Talk about making a lasting impression
And for as much as I wanted to be Claire back then? I was Allison. Now I’m really damn glad I was Allison
I honestly thought they would be the Scottish equivalent to U2. New Gold Dream and Sparkle in the Rain were as good as anything Bono & Co. were putting out in the early to mid 80s.

This is one of those songs that does all three, and makes me proudly proclaim, yes, I AM a man of the 80’s!
I will say, re-watching The Breakfast Club now, it is annoyingly all white...and yet I have a happy memory from the late 90s having lunch in downtown L.A. and an African-American Gen X-er was singing along to this song w/all his heart.

You see us as you want to see us: in the simplest terms, the most convenient definitions. You see us as a Brain, an Athlete, a Basketcase, Princess, and a Criminal. Correct? That’s the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed.

Favorite movie of all time “The Breakfast Club”.
Sons & fascination tour. Like a conference room. 12 foot ceilings, no riser, fluorescent lights, standing only! Was bloody great!
Weak video accompaniment.
Won’t you come see about me…
