The 'work requirements' are just subterfuge to withhold services from people. There's nobody to manage it. The hope is that recipients will give up in frustration and go away.
It’s reeks of Rick Scott and his fetishized views that people getting unemployment benefits and healthcare are gaming the system. HE’S the one gaming the system.
It’s the same old republican crap. Gotta make poor people work to get benefits. Be a good poor person and get a low paying job so they can say ok and feel like god.
David Graeber, one of the brightest who left us far too soon, explained how adding layers of bureaucracy for everything from healthcare to food assistance makes it more expensive and less efficient. Although he was actually talking about universal basic income, but I think it can be extrapolated.
You work but make too much for the coverage, but not enough for insurance. I am a substitute teacher and they have designed it so that I work 35hrs a week, which makes me part time. No benefits. This is DESIGNED for us to fail.
That. Is. The. Point. People will simply fail at the paperwork. It's bureaucratic sludge to either disincentivize, or trip people up, thereby putting the blame on THEM, rather than the heartless politicians who implemented the policies. This is disgusting, immoral, political bullshit.
You can’t teach a simpleton maga who’s willingly, scrupulously blind to factual history or evidence, you simply can’t.

I remember reconciling long ago that some got funds it didn't seem they deserved or needed but at least they were not on the streets or robbing someone. There are other more important things to be concerned with. You'd think rich ppl would see that. Greedy, mean, stingy Right Wingers. Lazy too.
This mindset accepts our savage, dystopian healthcare system as a given and not an affront to our common humanity. In what scenario would work requirements for healthcare sound like a good idea?
There is never enough money to administer the additional regulations and that causes eligible people to lose access due to an administrative log jam. Has happened every time a similar proposal was tried in real life. People will die because of this bill
Its not designed as general socialized health care. That why its struggling. Design a health care plan for all from the ground up one that is theft proof. But In reality if that were to happen congress would cry even louder because THEY CANT STEAL FROM IT!
Review the TANF, passed under Clinton. Did that legislation, (goosed by Newt Gingrich) create homelessness? 25 years after its pass, how many people lived on our streets, how many uneducated?
It’s not lack of awareness that makes the extremely low enrollment in Pathways in GA. It’s that there’s nowhere to sign up. The Gateway app doesn’t address it
I believe 99% of people on Medicaid would choose to work if they could, would choose good jobs where paying for insurance wouldn't hinder their ability to thrive. NOBODY chooses to be poor. And again, if most of the rest of the world can figure out healthcare for all, we can as well.
Work requirements are a natural extension of the belief that poor = lazy, that needing assistance is weakness and that everyone in the US is offered the same opportunities. It’s a fallacy perpetrated by people who refuse to admit that the rich take advantage of privilege and of working class labor.
My man was on Medicaid for couple of months prior actual retirement with Social Security cause he ‘didn’t have a job’. No was not bringing home paycheck. Yes we were squeezing by on my $. Most importantly YES he was WORKING taking care of cows, doing hay etc. Do you like steak USA? You’re welcome.
Fun fact: one of the earliest proponents was Nixon. As a Republican he was elected by racists. He envisioned work requirements would limit the access of segregated POC and benefit poor white people.
Then his donors told him they’re bigots, but they REALLY hate the POOR.
When told of those failures, Speaker Johnson said, "I don't live in Arkansas". Trump wants his Big Beautiful Bill. Biggest transfer of wealth in the history of America.
Speaker Johnson knows the poor are the patsies. He just smiles and lies. The misery maga voted for will be visiting real soon
Why don't republicans just LEAVE US ALONE, trying to take what's ours to pay for their tax cuts?! If they want more money, then *they* can GET ANOTHER JOB & GO TO WORK!! ..sell a few possessions while they're at it! cc @meidastouch.com @thebulwark.com @ericswalwell.bsky.social @aoc.bsky.social
I’d like to know in which “employment market” they expect people in the Medicaid category to find. I’m waiting to hear the answer. No one espousing this “solution” has ever revealed the answer
Trump ALWAYS makes things SOUND good by twisting & manipulating the truth or by leaving important facts OUT. His first term taught the MAGA republicans how to lie in the same way. They turn the tables on reporters & attack them immediately after being asked a question they hate.
On top of every other reason it's ethically, logically, and fiscally stupid, it also will require massive more resources to track and manage additional requirements like that. They surely haven't even begun to sketch out how that's supposed to work. They're increasing inefficiency on purpose.
Work requirements are and have been in place for public assistance programs. Most people on Medicaid-cal are working but their scumbag temples won’t provide ins. Then there’s the full time students on Obama care who can barely find time to study much less work.
Yes! No one should have to work for health insurance. How much you *pay* should be based on your income or age, but we all should just have it. Tying health ins. to work is an historic anomaly.
Who's going to drive all the handicapped people to their jobs. My Son In Law has Cerebral Palsey. He can walk, but his legs collapse without warning. He's been on Medicaid since he was a child.
I'm too sick to work, I'm on Medicaid temporarily. I'll be disabled permanently without continued care during this critical time frame. The business case they're trying to make just isn't there. It's best for government expense to heal me with expediency so I can come off public assistance ASAP.
#Disabled people are #Discriminated against and have no #Legal recourse to sue because our #SoCalled #Justice system and 2/3 of #SCOTUS merely exist for the #Benefit of the #Rich #RichAndBloated We ought to #Ensure people who #Pay for an #Education cannot lose #Employment without #DueProcess

Republican Policies are Failures every time we apply their theories about economics/healthcare/…

Fucking greedy bastards
It's about 💰
Spoiler Alert: They don't hate bureaucracy when it helps them.
most people on Medicaid ARE WORKING.. except the ones who are too sick to work (with cancer, Alzheimer's, MS, etc...)
