Myrie, Lander, Ramos, or Adams (Adrienne, not Eric) would all make fine Mayors. Even Stringer would be better than one of the two who are likely to win.

That's a lazy analysis. If someone has particular politics it's entirely reasonable for them to criticize a candidate for not being aligned with their politics. That's not a "purity test". That's just having beliefs. Also centrists hold way more power and wield it against progressives.

Maybe we need a simpler assessment, like "which person is more likely to help democracy survive the Trump administration?" Competent blue-city/state leadership would help. Ideological purity tests or ineffective city management wouldn't.
