In my careful efforts not to dump the contents of my dog’s water dish on myself while taking it to the sink to clean, I dumped the contents of my dog’s water dish on myself while taking it to the sink to clean.

Pro tip, if you have a walk-in shower, keep the water bowl in the shower. Every time you hose off, you can clean and refill the water bowl. Just make sure you have a way to keep the shower door from closing them off from the water.
Once while emptying water dishes in a cat adoption center, I kicked/ tripped in a cat gently. I tilted my body to not actually hurt her, and dumped the water on her. From her perspective: “a giant kicked me then threw water on me!”
This is why our dogs water dish is now in the shower. Seems weird, we know, but so much easier to clean and refill. We also have St. Bernard's so it's massive quanities of fresh water daily.
My dog’s water dish is outside on the patio. I always empty it on the grass to prevent exactly this. Especially because she will jump up at me while I’m taking it into the house. Life lesson 😃
You gotta just be casual about it. If you try too hard, you'll just do it anyway. Just don't think about it and stay smooth in your movements. That's the key.

Will inevitably redampen myself as I try to put it on the floor. I do not live on a boat.
With that being said, that is very funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This method is standard practice in our house.
