And so to the original post from @pascallth.bsky.social. He is correct. This would put the far right on the back foot; it woulf reenergise Labour; and it would cause a flood on investment into the UK.

The time to start is not 2029. Europe is being threatened today. Set the UK agenda now.

Can I add, premise that the Labour Government is universally “unpopular” is also slightly biased. It has put forward some unpopular policies, but the economy is growing, the green policies are popular, initiatives on Ukraine/defence popular, BSteel popular. Needs to stop listening to polling though.

The UK Government has to show it means business on realigning (just one word so as to not go into many) with Europe. The UK's stance with the US is also slowing things down imo, and I also feel that UK Labour is at odds with itself on various fronts. Visibly pushing towards Europe (EU) is a MUST!

This discussion is completely abstract! Sir Kidstarver's coming re-set of relations with the EU involves opening it to imports of British arms manufacturers. The EU, especially Germany,is using deficit funding to boost its military, the same Germany that imposed austerity on the PIG countries.

Absolutely. Tho the OP points out that a paradigm is deeper than red lines. Much of it is unconscious, or at least I acknowledged, which is why it’s so hard to change. Universal human quality not limited to those with overt red lines.

I've met a lot of 'smart' people, but their biggest failure is typically their ability to create a smörgåsbord of problems that combined make something difficult 'impossible', even if they know the difficult thing has to be done eventually.
