The Trumpists understand that these institutions stand in the way of authoritarian consolidation, as democratic resilience relies on civil society actors with significant resources at their disposal, which at least potentially enables them to provide some measure of resistance.

Das mag alles stimmen, aber machen wir uns nichts vor, Harvard ist eine private Eliteuniversität mit 75.000€ Studiengebühren immJahr. Das ist keine Uni sondern ein Geschäft. Mir fällt es schwer Solidarität mit DER Instituion für Privatisierung von Bildung zu empfinden.

Almost 7,000 students likely lose their status immediately and will be at risk of deportation. The regime is making this a test case for a weapon that would detonate higher education (public and private) across America. If you can't see the bigger picture here, you never will. And that's on you.
