So like... people following 10k+ people, do people tend to block them? Genuine question, I wasn't on twitter much and my instinct is to block them, it seems they're abusing the impulse to follow back. They usually have roughly equal following/follower numbers.

Following is one thing, but the more important thing I look for is how many followers.

High followers is typically the sign of a solid account imo.

If they have low followers, it may also be ok and just a new or non-popular account. But low followers + high following = suspect. also posts/replies

Fair enough, although if I see someone with 38K followers and 43K following, and they followed me out of the blue, I'm inclined to block tbh. Even if they're posting stuff that some people like, the "follows" are still spam, and a lot of the "followers" are probably doing a similar thing.

Honestly the number of blue wave bot/resister grifter accounts on BlueSky that keep following me is exhausting. I haven’t found a comprehensive enough block list to make them go away, but I did learn I’d been added to a “blue” starter pack & blocking the pack’s creator at least slowed them down.
