I think, if you’re an LFC fan who’s not from Liverpool, you might not get the TAA boos.
Yes, he’s spent 20 since the club since he’s been 6.
But you just don’t leave the club on a free for a team that can’t even be arsed to pay a fee for your services.
You. Just. Don’t.

I think he made a mistake announcing he’s leaving before our last game, and I think Slot made a mistake bringing him on.
It would be best if he didn’t play again, or join the parade.
If he wanted some adulation and appreciation, he could have waited to announce his departure. His mistake, do he needs to pay the price.
Or he could have signed a very lucrative contract and stayed.
That should read:
“Yes, he’s spent 20 years at the club since he was 6.”
Trent’s won us the lot.
I’m not happy about the circumstances of his leaving, but he deserves some respect.
It’s a point we’re divided on, and I don’t think it depends a lot on place of origin.
Like all professional sports, players are mercenaries, going with the highest bidder.
But TAA lived the dream all of us have of playing for the Reds. It’s a remarkable achievement, that very few accomplish.
So you don’t disrespect the club by leaving for free to play for a rival.
But clearly, the fan base is divided. Both in the ground and out.
All I am saying.
2) If he’d signed ANY new contract, Madrid wouldn’t have paid a fee to sign him. (That’s how much THEY value him.)
That’s why TAA turned it down. He WANTED to leave.
Him wanting to leave for Real is a big part of it. If you’re from the Red side of Liverpool, NO CLUB is bigger than LFC, certainly not Real.
But, if he left for a fee, the club would get at least some compensation.
Going on a free is a huge “fuck you!” to the club and the fans.
It just is.
I don't get the boos. You do NOT boo a player wearing the liverbird.
It's either You'll Never Walk Alone, or it isn't. We don't get to pick and choose when.
The booing is absolutely shameful
Common sense please
Did you boo him?
I think booing ANY player wearing the liverbird is small time plastic fan behaviour.
It's the kind of thing I'd expect from Chelsea fans, city fans..
It's embarrassing. And it's beyond embarrassing seeing people defend it.
Anyway, we wont agree. bye now
I wouldn’t do it myself, but to not get it doesn’t make sense.
He’s betrayed a fanbase.
He hasn't faked a back injury. He hasn't mouthed off about the team or fans. He hasn't downed tools and refused to turn up to training.
He's still a red, and as long as he is, it's bang out of order. Not only for him, but the atmosphere ruined the game for them all
There was nothing else that motivated his decision other than making more money for himself. That is unpalatable to many.
We offered six years, he signed four and for 11 months ran his contract down. People don’t like that.
LFC is the only club he knows. LFC spent millions on his development, medical, therapy & wages, whatever it took to make him the player he is now, all down to LFC. Leaving on a free is unforgivable.
The fans just gave him two fingers back, which he deserved.
Steve McManaman did the same.
This is on Trent. Sorry.
I get the anger I do , I just cant fathom booing our own player - it sends a terrible message to the players staying too.
I didn’t understand the booing when he was on the ball at all. Didn’t help at all today.
He played like he was hurt as well. Some great balls, but you could see his head was wrecked.
I felt sorry for him, but he must have known fans would be disappointed by his leaving.
He’s hurt a lot of people, whether it’s right to feel that or not, so they wanted to hurt him back.
Would we boo Owen in his last game knowing what we know now? Maybe.
I didn’t like it - but I can’t deny that I understand people doing it.
I get why he's done it, he gets to pocket the transfer fee. A massive amount of money. It would be tempting for anyone in his position.
LFC fans booing him would hurt.
Real are the ultimate shit bag club who’ve fucked is over a few times as well.
That alone says it all about him IMO.
I'm just pointing out why leaving the club for free screwed the club!
#YNWA . . . until we decide to erase all you've done for us.
"This is Anfield"? LOL
Do you know how many academy players actually make it to the prem? He's lucky to be where he is. He has screwed the club that made him the player he is!
Liverpool started negotiations and made him an offer from April 24
I remember being at Anfield when Lucas was being brought on and people booed, I felt sick to my stomach
