It makes me very happy to see my tools being used for your excellent project!

In my experience things that "shouldn't be this difficult" usually are more tricky than expected 😅

Psycheduckulus! 🤣 I am very happy to see you back on it! 👍

This bug must have been lurking in the source code for quite some time. Fortunately I stumbled upon it early in the process of getting the train games to work. An interesting idea to put it in SWRAM! Extra speed and no need for blanking part of the screen

I started disassembling and debugging the game until I saw that stupid mistake (OR instead of AND) in my emulator. One of these days I need to experiment more with these tape interrupts (I did so before but can't find it anymore of course). Don't have the patience to play this slow game though

Looks great so far! Space and time restrictions are a pain and a challenge at the same time. I hope to see more of this!

Ooh, what are you making? 👀

RAM access is always at 1MHz on the Electron, whereas on the Beeb (almost) everything is at 2MHz

😆 Creative programming for sure. The game is beautiful but unplayable because it is so slow!

Haha, no worries, where would we be without a new challenge

Hence the 'almost anything' 😅 Evening Star and Southern Belle use tape interrupts as a crude timer and they are not quite correct in Electroniq

Yay! Trying to make it more accurate step by step. Soon we won't need to test on real hardware anymore 🤣

I remember this being broadcast on the Dutch radio! I think we tried to record that on tape and then load it into the Acorn Electron

Yep! Btw, I also confirmed odd &FE05 behaviour that you also observed before bsky.app/profile/0xc0...

You're welcome! Disclaimer: the next version of Electroniq will be much more accurate than the current online version, especially the interplay between RAM and ROM/SWRAM, so don't be going coding cycle perfect stuff yet ;)

Don't worry about it, there is so much going on at an ABUG meeting! We will hopefully be able to meet at a future ABUG 👍

Let's just call it "mixing things up" to stay interested in each of the projects 😁 It is annoying and challenging at the same time to get things just right in an emulator. Just the fact that the 6502 operates at 3 different speeds 🤯

Yayy, congrats! It feels great to be in an actual magazine =)

Cheers Colin, I was hoping some people could appreciate the origin of the name 😄

I am balancing as I go. Max enemies on screen is 6 at the moment. Some code could be optimised but you want it to be fixed time in certain areas of the screen. All in all, just a little sweat and great fun!

That's going to be interesting and tricky, to have the difficulty increase gradually. There is no level design yet, just things flying around for testing 😁

Cheers Rob! I think I will have to commit to finishing this now

You're welcome! That's a work in progress as well

This is 4 colour MODE 5 but displays all 8 possible colours. It is entirely written in 6502 code

Cheers! I sure wish we could do that 😀👍

Thank you! I'm already thinking about suitable names but I'm not in a hurry ;)

Thanks mate, yeah trying to make it look good without the loss of RAM and speed 💪😎

Thanks Colin! ABUG inspired me for a stint of 6502 code 😄

Fun fact. Setting the screen start address below &1800 (which you may be tempted to do with 4 screen buffers) is glitchy on a real Electron, but perfectly fine on any emulator

😱🤣

My previous experiment with a parallax effect used 4 screen buffers. Yeah, I was not going to go down that road thank you very much 🤣

Haha, may your graphics be flicker free and may your code compile successfully every single time
