This was a feature from Twitter that I actually always liked. Made it feel like more of a community for me. I see the risks though, think algorithm transparency is so important here.

This manuscript has already been submitted to journal due to a special-issue deadline, however we welcome any comments and feedback as we aspire to improve dialogue surrounding design approaches to gamified interventions. (10/10)

🗣Secondly, we suggest a hypothetical formalised design model for games using inoculation as a foundational theory. This formalised structure is not designed to be prescriptive, but to start a dialogue surrounding approaches to design gamified intervention. (9/10)

🏗To this end, we offer two things. Firstly, we visualise a contemporary view of inoculation theory mechanisms (compared to a more “traditional” view of inoculation), taking steps to clarify the theory’s conceptual integration with games (using the memory-motivation model). (8/10)

🎨The design of gamified inoculation interventions should consider game design and inoculation theory in more equal measure, considering how contemporary inoculation theory components could be implemented in game design. (7/10)

We also encourage more pragmatic dialogue relating to how inoculation has been translated to design decisions. We believe inoculation theory should be considered as more than a justification for an intervention, but as a foundational theory that informs the design of the intervention. (6/10)

🔭With regards to the design of game-based inoculation interventions, we recommend that researchers and game designers seek to explore the efficacy of diverse game design decisions. This could, for example, be achieved through closer engagement with game designers and game design literature. (5/10)

We find homogeneity in design between many reviewed interventions, with often superficial discussion surrounding game design decisions. We find that this superficial discussion also extends to how inoculation theory has informed intervention design. (4/10)

🎮Many of these game-based interventions have been successful, however there is a stark lack of understanding of the underlying mechanisms which make them work. We review the current state of misinformation games using inoculation as a foundational theory. (3/10)

💉Inoculation Theory (read more via link below) is a pre-emptive approach to building resistance to persuasion, which in recent years has been a foundational theory for several “serious” games improving player resilience to misinformation. (2/10)

I wonder if in real world environments a this could be in danger of giving credibility to false information, especially on increasingly polarised platforms (i.e. if the third most popular community note on a vaccine related post pushed vaccine hesitancy, would it be part of the summation?)

Would love to be a part of this if possible! Not a big poster, but do some work with phishing interventions.

This has been a great list to catch people I've missed from Twitter/X! Would love to be added if possible. Haven't posted much but work with inoculation theory and gamified interventions. Thanks
