Today’s unsigned, unexplained #SCOTUS ruling clearing the way for removals of migrants to third countries without any additional process is a disaster—not just on the merits, but because of the government misbehavior that it not only refuses to punish, but effectively rewards. Me, via “One First”:

Column: After a lifetime reading about antidemocratic countries abroad—despots, masked agents, disappearances, troops in streets, arrests of opposition figures, military parades, political killings--this month I was abroad & that country was my own. www.latimes.com/opinion/stor...

Senator Bill Cassidy is the key driver of this school privatization plan. It would make the US less educated, deny opportunities to all but the rich, and harm US science and STEM and medicine. Cassidy is a believer in the right’s billionaire-driven agenda. He’s not an ally of science. 🧪

I can’t speak for every city, but here in LA, ICE bounty hunters aren’t going after gang members. They’re hunting the vulnerable: gardeners, street vendors, day laborers. Easy money, no risk. Folks need to stop pretending this is about crime. @jacobsoboroff.bsky.social—thank you for your words.

‘K I have an idea: Trump needs to be convinced that the only thing standing between him and the Nobel Peace Prize is STEPHEN MILLER. (Whether or not he is actually in contention for the NPP is irrelevant to this operation.) It’s a crazy plan, but it Just. Might. Work.

Let’s all say it together.

Correct.

I mean this is what it would sound like if you asked a fourth grader to imagine what a ceasefire would be like. and yet our entire political class is committed to never mentioning that the man is an imbecile

I've often said the signals SCOTUS sends lower courts and potential litigants by its bottom-line actions are at least as important as its legal doctrine. W/the Court doing so many of the highest-stakes cases on the shadow docket, where it's all bottom-line, no reasoning, that's even more true.

I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope. She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive. But the FDA recently denied its approval. Now, her health hangs in the balance. Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. 🧵

what federal agents did to a father of three Marines while he was cutting grass in Orange County on Sunday has happened in some form daily — and deliberately — all over Los Angeles for 18 days.

“He has always worked hard to put food on the table for us and my mom,” said Alejandro. “He was always careful and always did his taxes on time. He never caused any problems and he is known as a kind and helping person by everyone in our community.” santanero.org/2025/06/21/l...

PROVOKE AND PUBLICISE Tomorrow in the Houses of Parliament the transphobes will attempt a “Provoke & Publicise” action. Provoke and Publicise was originally developed as a tactic by racist segregationists in US states like Alabama & Oklahoma to try and stop the civil rights movement there… 1/7

I didn’t have the Supreme Court destroying the authority of federal district courts on my bingo card. But in retrospect that’s perhaps where all this shadow docket decision-making was going all along. Really scary stuff.

according to conservatives on the court, the constitution does not protect your right to your own body but does enable the government to ship you off to a foreign gulag without any hope of return

Since Day 1, Trump and Republicans have done absolutely nothing to lower costs for the American people.    Another broken promise.

Not the worst of it, but the court's conservatives also get to do this without bothering to explain themselves. No need for tortured logic or bad-faith arguments. They get to just blindly greenlight this with no accountability.

Canada and EU sign defense pact amid strained US relations and global instability

SCOTUS majority not deigning to give *any* reasons for staying the injunction of the district court - in the highest-possible stakes context & where the executive branch has acted appallingly - evincing real contempt for both district courts & the rule of law

Marco Rubio needs to be asked whether he believes his grandfather who remained in the U.S. after receiving a deportation order from our govt should have been treated the way the father of 3 Marines was treated by ICE this weekend in California. ASK HIM. Make him confront his lack of character.

Joe Rogan noticed that Stephen Miller's goons are "nuts." Share with your right wing member of Congress, if you have one.

DHS CONTRACTORS FOR KIDNAPPING: These job adverts confirm that DHS-ICE is hiring people off the streets with as little as 2 years military service. Plus CBP is hiring former War on Terror analysts to hunt Americans and migrants alike. Straight up Secret Police shit. These were on LinkedIn.

Ya fucking think

Key line in Robert Kagan's piece: “You would never know, as The New York Times churns out its usual policy-option thumb-suckers, that the United States is well down the road to dictatorship at home. That is the context in which a war with Iran will occur.” The hit on NYT is well placed.

@senangusking.bsky.social What are you doing to stop this unconstitutional behavior?

He was humiliated last weekend. This weekend he bombed someone. My guess is there is a relationship between those two events.
