for everything trump is not, and i am absolutely not handing it to him, he really is a savant of destruction.

my worry is that Trump thinks what he needs to do is make LA an example. i don't think that ultimately works out well for him but it is a mafia tactic he would be familiar with.

who are the normiest normies? aka who should i listen to if i want to know what the average american thinks is going on right now. don't say joe rogan.

i want to hear Republican legislators explain what separation of powers means

i feel the need to see what Steve Bannon's saying about all of this but I can't physically bring myself to listen to him

just thinking out loud here. we abolish the Senate, keep the House but make it the upper house, and create a new lower house which is essentially a permanent citizen's assembly.

The Third Amendment after hearing the Second never shut the fuck up about how it’s the last line of defense against tyranny for 200 years only to have a bunch of Second Amendment worshippers sic the troops on the masses: my my my, how the tables have turned…

a foreign adversary could never dream of being so audacious in their attempt to destroy the country with a Manchurian candidate as this administration already has six months in

i view this more like a test run, especially to see how public opinion will view it

It is an unfortunate fact that optics matter quite a bit in the era of highly disingenuous media where video is clipped and shared misleadingly.

And there it is 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

This is what we're talking about when we say it's antisemitic to conflate all Jews everywhere with the actions of the Israeli govt. Defacing a memorial to the 1/3 of world Jewry that Hitler slaughtered won't free Palestine, but it does tell me a lot about you. 🎁🔗 www.haaretz.com/world-news/2...

I hope, if nothing else, what's going on in LA will remind the nation's young people that true rebelliousness is not saying slurs that HR told you not to say, it's fighting fascists who are using state power to suppress speech & impose violence on marginalized groups.

If you are attending a #NoKings rally/march on Saturday, consider bringing an American flag! We need to make this clear: we are Americans and we will not abide a wannabe king MAGA doesn't own our flag

Dems need to take back patriotism and it means using the symbols thereof.

"Nobody’s going to spit on our police officers," says Trump, who four months ago pardoned people who beat police officers with pipes, flagpoles, baseball bats and 2-by-4s at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Now that’s how you do it

Hasn’t been hard to notice the shift in verbiage — he’s both the sole decider but also everyone that works for him is acting independently.

Well he’s not wrong lmao

It’s important to treat it as such but they haven’t consolidated the sufficient power to do this yet. It could very well be part of that process. Also doesn’t mean they aren’t impatient idiots who will botch their authoritarian attempt catastrophically.

In this Ohio diner, Paramount still means the network that shows Yellowstone, not a working class town south of Los Angeles. But they do know this: Watching protestors getting tear gassed on Fox News is more entertaining than any scripted TV show.

I like Murphy, I think he generally gets it more than others in Washington. And it’s true that fascism intentionally employs spectacle. But, my god, not everything is a distraction. Especially not forceful quelling of dissent.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

they did this so often during BLM protests. journalists are not targeted with less lethal munitions in free countries.

Great replacement theory is the driving force here. They want to roll back the clock on demographic change. They need authoritarian power to do it, and then they’ll go after those who allowed it, in their minds, to happen.

The fascism is the point. And it has been for a long, long time now. My latest. www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump...

It’s clearly kayfabe meant to distract from the breakup

deploying the Marines on US soil against Americans is about as red as red lines get

the way Trump operates is typically to probe for weaknesses, take a strong, maximalist position, then if he faces a lot of resistance, dial it back. It's two steps forward, one step back. but that's still progress.

Trump was extremely clear about his plans for mass deportations. If you voted for him, this is what you voted for. Period.

what they care about is maintaining demographic supremacy and regaining cultural power. they care *a lot* about deporting as many non-white people as they can plausibly justify, and undocumented immigrants are the lowest hanging fruit.
