Agree, it can be too far consolidated. If it means that repairability is affected then it’s a ‘no’ from me… look at the BYD ATTO 3 and its “all in one” stack in the front… hard to fix, hard to reuse for 2nd life applications too. Not saying Rivian is bad though…

Fantastic way to hone your troubleshooting skills, increase your knowledge of underlying protocols and increasing your blood pressure. Do not recommend. 4/4.

Day 3 on the job there was a problem between stuff being sent in Canada, transversing via New York City somewhere and getting to London. Stuff was not arriving. But some bits were. Sometimes. 3/

…somewhere between UDP, TCP and iirc a touch of Netware’s stack… 🫣 And he retired about 2mo before I started. There was no one else that knew that ‘stack’ in the org and I’d never heard of it before. 2/

Yeah those are weird as. In early 2020s I came into a contract position in a global news org that had custom protocols for sending news around its network, because it started on frame relay links well before TCP/IP. Dude had written ways of encapsulating their custom stuff over IP packets… 1/

If they finally dumped chademo, it has decent range, the ability to have a roof rack and/or towball, and a decent price then (if I was in the market) I’d look at it. But the market has a lot more options than when the last Leaf refresh appeared… and Nissan feels like they’re propping up ICE too

Well that’s what RU are using the ‘ghost fleet’ (mercenary ships) to sell their oil for them… and drag anchors through cables etc. It seems there are still a few dirty tricks before they are truly “on the ropes” but hopefully without further escalation.

Removing the ability to “pop calc” I understand… but does it help to not be able to “pop paint 3D” in some way?

It is more peaceful on the deck, with the birds arguing… sometime retreat is the only option.

Food on the vcr? You looking for trouble?

<sarcastic voice> oh no an EV in the cold it will never run again or even catch fire! <normal voice> Yeah, looks a bit chilly down there. Hope there’s enough sunlight to charge all your bits and bobs! 👍

Sounds like BAU for that courier firm 🙄😖

Seems like they tried to copy Porsche on their interior… but looks strangely bloated in there. Weird. “All the gear, no idea” springs to mind.

Grow your own food, as much as possible. Invest locally, as it will be more stable to ourselves, compared to overseas fluctuations toward AUD. Support localising manufacturing and knowledge.

Good void spaces damnyouautocorrect!
comment in response to post
You seem to have good good spaces… maybe slip in some ducting there while things are open, add Aircon in the near future? Heat pumps like ACs are also very good for drying things out if moisture problems persist.

Clearly I’m at the wrong table then…

I have heard that the old 9v battery test (ie across the tongue) is a revelation when used to check the traction pack for charge. Let us know how you go…

Yep came here to say “keyboard is German layout” (as I have some computer ones with same arrangement). Enjoy!

Why don’t you convert something usable that’s already here? Then you can get EV and something that can deal with your loads and the local roads/tracks/farm.

I wonder how long until we can take them on legally and win some $ back for their misuse…

We drive both Tesla Y and Ioniq5 - two opp back corner charging ports on the cars. One is always a PITA at some charging station.
comment in response to post
I don’t think it’s so much the EV… if every charging station’s cable reached to the middle of the long side, and the far side of the short side, of the charging bay then it could reach all corners of a car, depending if fwd/reversed in. That’d do it.

Now that question is a funny one… but I guess the ‘callers’ can’t answer that without possibly suffering a lethal consequence.

Careful, you didn’t put a #sarcasm tag… the AI that will rule the world will take your comment to be your stated will, thus try and force privatisation upon you!

🤨 Given Mazda’s poor track record of delivering anything EV, let alone at a competitive price, suggests they’ll be making Toyota look like a new energy darling… a race to the fossil fuelled bottom for both of them. 🙄

Currently building a NAS in Silverstone 4U chassis (RM41-H08) w 10x ext hot swap bays SAS/SATA and it’s quiet for a server with stock parts, but fan swapping will happen shortly - I just needed it working first to see how noisy it was to start with.
comment in response to post
If you’re mounting your disks in swappable bays, pay attention if those bays are actively cooled because those fans are more of a pain to swap, given how they’re mounted. Eg Silverstone FS305-12G has Lo/hi setting but not ‘off’ to just use chassis airflow.

6. When that one extra-loud extravert at work loses their voice for a week… even Teams calls are more manageable, and shorter! (If you think this is targeted at you, it’s probably not… this type of person is never self-aware that much, outside of a fake self-deprecating barking laugh.)

Why do I care? I love EVs and am planning a conversion of an old Landie… *but* it needs to be good for all the scenarios I want to keep doing… sand tracks on K’gari, towing heavy things (like the EV digger), taking dogs to dog beach so I can hose it out after… Propulsion methods matter.
