Two kids. Two cities. Left alone on the street while #ICE disappeared the adults beside them. Tourists detained. Green card holders jailed. International #tourism collapsing. Trump’s America isn’t just unwelcoming, it’s hostile. And now it’s costing billions. open.substack.com/pub/marygedd...

Sometimes, there isn’t enough popcorn.

The owner of X and the owner of Truth Social, the president of the USA having a spat in public is just embarrassing but I am here to watch it.

I'm just glad one of these men has the nuclear codes and the other has all our personal data.

Chris Murphy: "We can't be preparing for the 2026 election. It might not come. All of our focus right now has to be on protecting the democracy, about stopping the corruption."

Chris Murphy: "Let's be clear what this trip is all about. This is President Trump's corruption tour of the Middle East. He is going to the gulf to collect tribute. What's happening here is an extraordinary level of corruption. We shouldn't pretend this is business as usual."

🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm a boatnerd. When 2008 happened, Great Lakes shipping all but ceased. I remember thinking, watch the boats. That'll tell you where we are. Well, here we are. Once again, shipping has all but creased.

Honest reporting on the death of honest reporting. ☹️

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

important context about the concentration camps in el salvador:

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Are we great yet?

I would not have predicted that large universities would show more courage than either Big Law or corporate media. Good for them.
