The game not actually being that random, so you see everything after just a few runs, the lack of build variety in the classes, the lack of player to player communication its all a recipe for it to perform worse than I think people were hoping for even for those its target audience

I mean, Im a crazy souls fan but theres a lot about this game that doesnt appeal BECAUSE I am. Set classes over custom builds, rougelike over focused hand crafted experiences, poor balance outside of 3 man teams.. and then therds the issues being discussed such as the online quality being poor or-

I hope it succeeds, I have no intention of playing it myself but I really doxhope theyre able to iron out those early issues and make something gold for the people who enjoy this stuff because that means they can carry foward the best parts for future projects I will want to play

Man I really dont want to be that dick sitting here like "I told you all this would suck" cause if it was really good then like, yeah even if its not my thing, good on FS for doing something out of their wheelhouse and nailing it but those early reviews are DIRE

There are two dungeons that while not directly tied to the ending give context to many of the most important questions the game doesn't cover, ones that both you and Woolie have discussed
I wont say more than that due to spoilers but ______s Drafts and the Flying Manor are the ones to look out for

Oh and then theres another dungeon thats optional but absolutely should be finished before the final dungeon and its INSANE that the devs dont make it mandatory given the closure it gives to *spoilers*

There are 3 superboss dungeons that are absolutely worth doing on stream as 2 are lore important, and one has a way to round out any possible monoco skills you may have missed

comment in response to

I mean absolutely but then every year theres complaints that cod needs to slow down because the yearly release cycle hurts the development of the games and because of the way theyre developed between 3 studios itll take 3 years before the next one comes out to address issues

"The series has grown past the need to rely on final fantasy" really means that Disney wants the series to have as little to do with Squares ip as possible to make way for a 3 min full recreation of let it go in the frozen word

Turn off all the gimmicky additions that ARENT the keyblade transformations because they stall combat so dramatically
Also the lack of Final fantasy characters outside of a gloridfied cameo in a paid dlc would be fine if said dlc wasnt the games actual ending and didnt make it so obvious that

Kh3 does a lot right when it focuses on its core plot and its worlds look fantasitc
Its gameplay on the other hand Is such a dramatic step back from even the 3DS version of the game its hard to recommend even as a fan. It says a lot that the best way to play it is to use the custom difficulty to

Refer to a person of Similar age whereas as Auntie and Uncle are used for people in my parents' generation or Kui and Koro, who used for those in my grandparents' generation. Theyre familial terms but they're more about showing the respect that we all came from the same place

To be fair to the show, I think it means Cousin in the Polynesian colloquial sense as in "of our people," not so much as an actual relation

Tarkov and Hunt showdown and even then peaked at 2 million
People dont want this genre, it feels inherently antifun to lose your progress to another person with a personal garuntee from the game of no reward
Like i dont care if it felt good by bungie standards it was from inception the wrong genre

Not that Fromsoft and bungie are the same thing, but this is what I mean when I hear the possibility of Duskbloods being an extraction type game.
Extraction pvp is just an inherently abhorrent idea to everyone that isnt a super freak
Like the only two (kind of) successful titles in this genre are

You entered a contract for a base level of power, but your patron doesn't actually have worth for you until you prove yourself. From level 3 it can be assumed you have some skills that your patron can use for their own goals so they grant you a more specific pact to fulfill their needs

Moment only leads to a reward sometimes, and then you get that same puzzle 5 runs in a row where you still dont get a reward out of it then all youve achieved is getting the player to feel almost stupid and then bored them with the follow through

Whos express purpose is to encourage 100s of runs and substitute hand crafted direction with RNG elements, feel less like an oil and water situation, and more like pouring gasoline into a glass of milk and calling that a cocktail
It was never gonna work in the first place because if the "Aha!" 3/4

At the exact moment, BEFORE the player feels stupid but long enough after they feel like they've exhausted their knowledge base that the best ones always are designed to be beaten once or maybe built upon on multiple loops (heres looking at you outerwilds)
The idea of combining that with the 2/4

I dont like Rougelikes to begin with, so im definitely not the person to be weighing in heavily on these types of things but to be honest the idea of a rougelike puzzle game from the outset seems like a terrible idea. Puzzle games are unique in that they require the "Aha!" Moment to be delivered 1/4

It's absolutely fantastic until the last 2 zones
Not that those two zones are bad, just that that's the exact moment the game gets into the territory of "too big"
And that's probably a lot to do with "I've got all the abilities, and I've solved combat now. Let's get moving"

But instead its shackled to a genre with a more niche and worse gameplay loop than even 1 life style battle royales where the only people that ever get ahead is pros followed by cheaters who WILL kill the game by its second year

Which sounds dismissive until you look into it and the examples of the games they use as "see this game does it well" all include the exact mechanics being lambasted by these pseudo-intellectual think pieces that read more and more like "i prefer when games were shitty and the camera didnt work"

with seamless coop. And to then see that all the info is pointing towards it being an extraction game is not only dissapointing, its downright worrisome. The ONLY success story in this genre is Tarkov. Every attempt since has failed within a year and I just feel like the dev time could go 2/3

Hey I wish I could be more optimistic about it but after Nightreign was shiwn to be a Rougelike (a genre that's a garunteed bullet to the head of games for me) I had hoped that if they were going to continue branching into multiplayer content we'd see something more along the lines of a linear souls

That sounds more possible than we may think just based on the decision to release at its current count is more to do with it taking too long for them to get it in players hands and less that they dont have development started on multiple characters

In saying that, all the big Soulslike reviewers I follow said its got some of the most satisfying progression of any of these things and holds a very similar gearing and skill system to Nioh without having you trawl through hours menus because of loot vomit and skill descriptions

Id say start with the demo cause its just the first 2 hours of the game and carries over to full progression
It FEELS really good to play and theres cool stuff like farmable bosses and passive soul gain when attempting them but im unfortunately not deep enough to comment on if the quality stays up

There absolutely seems to be way stricter part break requirements based on damage type in this game than previous, though like, if I dont have my impact or blast phials up I am flat out not getting any skull breaks where as previously while it was harder it wasnt impossible so theres that
