My son and a friend build this together, and since it is just one for two kids, they agreed to take it home from school on alternating days. So it is kind of a happily smiling irish-american rocket with shared custody. 🚀☘️🇺🇸

Zu meine Video-Vortrag über Modifizierte Newtonische Dynamik (MOND) letztes Jahr gibt es jetzt ein Follow-up, in dem ich Zuschauerfragen beantworte. 🔭🧪

About to give my second publicly talk this week in the Schöneberg city hall, this time about dwarf galaxies and dark matter.

Morgen (Mittwoch, 7.

As promised, here’s a bit more about the Sonneberg Observatory I had the pleasure to visit yesterday. 🔭🧪

I’m about to give a public talk on dark matter, MOND, and its successes and problems at the astronomy museum in Sonneberg this evening. Already got a fun tour of the observatory and exhibition, will post a bit more about it later. 🔭 www.astronomiemuseum.de/termindetail...

How I arrived on Bluesky

Jamie‘s new Nature Astronomy paper on how M31‘s satellite galaxy system is much more asymmetric than typically expected from cosmological simulations is now out on the arXiv, too. 🔭 arxiv.org/abs/2504.08047

#AndromedaGalaxie #SatellitenGalaxien #asymmetrisch

This is a fantastic definition of what a satellite galaxy of Andromeda is. 😂 🔭🧪

Andromeda is surrounded by a highly lopsided system of dwarf galaxies. Sims reveal that this distribution is highly unexpected in the current cosmological model, querying Andromeda's history and the viability of the cosmological paradigm. https://bit.ly/43OsHaT #AstroSci

Exciting news: @natastron.nature.com published our paper "Andromeda’s asymmetric satellite system as a challenge to cold dark matter cosmology" led by my PhD student Jamie Kanehisa in collaboration with @aippotsdam.bsky.social colleague @cosmicwebmaster.bsky.social 🔭🧪☄️ www.nature.com/articles/s41...

With an unusual arrangement of dwarf galaxies, the #Andromeda #galaxy surprises one team from the AIP. ✨ A new #study in the journal #Nature Astronomy suggests that the current cosmological model may not be complete. 😯 www.aip.de/news/androme...

Some impressions from the Copernicus Symposium in Nürnberg that I had the pleasure to contribute to last weekend. Wonderful venue, and always a thrill to speak in such a huge planetarium dome. But the real highlight was the exchange with the other speakers from various fields of research. 🧪

Was hoping for some feel-good animal stories amid all the terrible news, but now even the wolfs are dire.

This weekend I’m at the interdisciplinary 🧪🔭🔬Nicolaus-Copernicus-Symposium in Nürnberg on „The limits of knowledge - human curiosity and ways to reliable knowledge“, with talks covering a wide range of topics from Philosophy and Sociology to Mathematics and Physics. bz.nuernberg.de/themen/nicol...

Had a great time at the Volkssternwarte Munich last Friday, a packed room with a super engaged crowd asking a ton of questions. In the end I didn't leave until 23:00, because after talk, questions, and further discussions the team also gave me a detailed tour of their super interesting site ...

Dark matter-MOND virtual debate coming on Monday April 7. Register to attend. tritonstation.com/2025/04/03/d...
