In DC sometimes you'll have these super intense and challenging protest experiences and then walk two blocks away and it's full of tourists who have no idea anything is going on. Despite what the media may have reported/what people believe the city is fine? But they don't want to hear it.

I do not know if this opinion is shared by others! Except my mom who was basically like "this isn't something I ever expected to say but you look very handsome", another nice thing that was a big deal to me.

I believe in you

Well that seems healthy

I think it's really weird that articles about Adrian Brody seldom if ever talk about him non-consensually kissing Halle Berry at the Oscars. It was such a disgusting and inappropriate thing to do! And sometimes I feel like the only one who remembers.

I see a lot of "trans" as a noun which is also bad, often in sentences like "I support trans, but..." It's a very weird way to refer to us!

I did eventually get a little more rest, I hope you did too!

And when I say "had Congress destroy their budget" I don't mean "Congress was going to give them money and then changed their minds", I mean Congress dictated that DC can't spend ITS OWN MONEY

Plenty of people want to abolish the police, it's not just a slogan or bargaining position, but many centrists can't or won't conceptualize that, but they have endless interest in articles humanizing fascists and making them sound like complex, interesting people but most of them are very boring!

Great! When are they going to start?

I think the response you're quoting also accepts the framing that trans rights are something given to us by the government which can be taken away as opposed to something we are owed as human beings. If you say our rights are only "perceived" and not intrinsic it makes us seem less than human.

That was really awful but also like if I were posting something that was "not an apology, it's an explanation" and sucked that bad honestly I don't think I'd also include a screenshot of the original post which somehow looks even worse

You can't just say "it's a big tent and all are welcome!" and expect people with ideological differences to set them aside and come join you.

They have no self awareness, it's a sight to behold

I didn't know how to respond without being creepy! But in the interest of truth and you feeling appreciated there are definitely people who care (I will probably delete this soon).

In fairness his name is Trombone Shorty which is both a fantastic name and exactly the name a kid would invent for a fictional jazz musician

You are arguing with a lot of trans people at the moment, wasting people's time and making them feel bad at a time we're already massively under attack. I believe you believe you're a trans ally but both your words and actions -- focusing on arguing with us instead of defending us -- say otherwise.

I have been seeing a lot of "I support trans people, but..." and I have to say in most cases it turns out that whatever they say they don't actually support trans people
comment in response to post
Like how do you get the audacity to bargain away someone else's rights!
comment in response to post
Agreed and also they seem to think they're the arbiters of what's reasonable, like "oh well banning trans women from women's sports is okay, let's do that as a compromise" as if 1) it'll appease transphobes 2) it would be acceptable if it did appease transphobes neither of which is true

It's wild how eager cis people who consider themselves allies are to compromise on our behalf
