A data broker owned by the major airlines, including Delta, American, and United, collected travelers’ flight records, sold access to them to Customs and Border Protection, and in the contract told CBP not to reveal where the data came from. From @wired.com: www.wired.com/story/airlin...

U.S. economic growth rate projection cut by half to 1.4%. China growth rate little affected at 4.5%, 3X faster. Per new World Bank estimates, change largely due to U.S. import tax (tariff) increase, from @deanbaker13.bsky.social. substack.com/inbox/post/1...

What happened when the U.S. forcibly sent 400,000 Mexican workers back to Mexico in the 1930s? The employment rate of native workers *went down* noticeably as a direct result. (You read that correctly) Why? Forced repatriation destroyed low-skill markets. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Philly local tv station reporting that a man allegedly posed as an ICE agent in order to rob a car repair business office. How many other criminals might be getting this idea right now, given that actual ICE agents are refusing to show IDs, warrants, badges?

One of the things mentioned here is that they arrived in unmarked cars and wore casual clothing, so if staff hadn’t had the courage to tell them to go away, how would you know they were federal agents and not random adult men abducting children? This should be the biggest conservative mom panic ever

Ooh retirement policy on Sunday morning. This is a very good article but it shows the limits of large scale state sponsored retirement plans. I am with @aaronsojourner.org that we will need mandatory, universal, low cost, low risk add ons ,but there is more.

Yup. Tax reform has to be key for retirement reform. If we change from deductions/exclusions to refundable credits, we can give LMI workers a ton of retirement security.

Facts. Behavioural economics pretty clear on this one. And in the empirical policy space, the countries with compulsory savings (e.g. Australian superannuation or Singapore) are the ones furthest from the fiscal pension cliff.

I've done a fair bit of research & read more on how to increase retirement savings. It's made me pretty pessimistic about every strategy except mandatory, universal pensions for baseline retirement income security. Lots of people just won't choose to save but will need $ later.

The military isn’t being employed to carry out an immigration policy. The immigration policy, and especially the way the administration is choosing to carry it out, is an excuse to call out the military.
