TIL. Had no idea the Foursquare product design story goes back even further and Dennis was inspired by someone else. Makes it an even better example now. This is why social apps can be great!

Why and how did Microsoft create VS Code? The actual story is amusing because creating VS Code was seen as the least important decision across 3 bold "bets". Scott Guthrie (who heads up Cloud + AI at Microsoft) recalls below. Watch / listen: youtu.be/lDfjPEA4BUM (cont'd)

I've been turning over my use LLMs as a "thought partner" for quite some time, and it captured my attention when I encountered this piece & listened to the podcast episode of the same name (podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/5... ). There was some review of hospital injury/death cases, and ~holding things while walking on stairs~ causes super-dramatic risk. I recently had a close-call on my own stairs after hurting my foot, somehow I kept up with the misplaced feet to save myself. It sounds dumb but Jesus Christ.
