The replies and quotes to this post are breaking my heart. This is ethnic cleansing in its early stages and we must ALL be resisting it by any means necessary.
Those of us with the privilege of white skin and anglo names, remember: PRIVILEGE IS COMMUNITY PROPERTY. We have to use it. Don't waste it.

I mean red baiting, yeah, but that’s not what made what she said just before that stunning and a threat to us all.
What made it stunning and a terrifying threat to every citizen is the part where she said she was there to liberate LA and California from “the burden of (duly elected) leadership” 😳

Democracy makes fascism incredibly hard to stop, when you've got guys who are like "we want to kill everyone for sport, this is our political platform" and then the police are all, "you have to let them march because this is free speech in a democracy, and we will beat and arrest you if you resist."

I know for a lot of you you’ve seen me use the term surrogate violence. This would fall into that category, and it’s another avenue to gain more surrogates from the population to act on their increasingly violent and war footing messaging.

The internet is *literally called the internet* because it’s meant to be a network of networks. It’s not supposed to be one giant network that sucks up all the people. It’s broken-brained to think of one platform vs another. “Why McDonald’s is doomed since Red Lobster exists.” Please.

The reason conventional media has to talk about Bluesky being either mean (if you’re on the right) or scolds (if you’re a centrist normie) is because Bluesky culturally has a fluency in power and principle. People here respond with an expectation that people will communicate with awareness of both.
