I'm not sure if we are better off here in Australia or worse. Our fearless leaders are all papier mashé models. Apparently there was only one mould so behind their various facades they are identical.

Yes Sam, and wars are very, very profitable. Not so much for those on the receiving end though. Outsourcing is a great improvement also whereby you don't have awkward numbers of body bags to explain away. Some of our fearless leaders are so insane that they think a nuclear war could be won.

Seems a little strange but the madman who accuses others of having weapons of mass destruction has the most weapons of mass destruction. There might be a lesson here somewhere.

Wong urges restraint. Looking at Gaza this means that they can kill at least 50,000 people before Penny sees any problems. Should Israel exceed this Penny will stamp her foot.

The conditions are that Woodside promise not to trip over the profits and to never pay significant taxes or royalties. It'll be a struggle but Woodside have plenty of form in these areas.

Australia's smoke and mirrors trick of not accounting for the carbon from fossil fuel that is exported is a signature device of our devious entrapped government. It's like having shitting and non-shitting ends of a swimming pool. COP31 is just a photo opportunity.

I think you're right about loose legislation being the problem. Unfortunately if regulations were any 'tighter' that would most likely be the problem too.

I'm afraid I have no idea about the present use of Aramaic. My only interest was, at first religious and now historical. The inhabitants of the village in Syria will be decendants of the Hebrews who in turn decended from the Phoenecians. The Phoenecians taught the ancient Greeks the alphabet.
comment in response to post
Aramaic is the original language of the Old testament of course and also the language of the intertestamental writings. There have been many mistranslations and outright inventions over the last 2000 years. Many of these were to suit current political biases. Then, as now, they just made shit up.

I hear you. I think it's important to hear from all manner of adherents. Human thought is a wonderful and many splendid thing. I look upon many religious texts as history of sorts and history is my only religion.
comment in response to post
This sort of thing comes from an ignorance of history. It's not only the details of history but the actual study itself. This is a willful and deliberate ignorance. These people have no desire to confront awkward facts.

Exactly. That was my father's message; Beware of extremists. I apologise if I jumped on you. On a positive note my father could speak, read and write Aramaic and could have sight translated the Dead Sea scrolls into modern english. He taught me some of this also.

As to Judaism being 'a beautiful religion' that depends upon your perspective. Extreme orthodox judaism ruined my father's life. I have studied world religions extensively and find many of them interesting but I don't follow any of them. I'm a confirmed atheist.

In a world of delusional beliefs Zionism stands out as hallucinatory. Whoever it was that was being addressed in Exodus it certainly wasn't Ashkenazi Jews such as those who populate Israel. There weren't any. Sephardic Jews, who coincidentally have brown skins, are treated as 2nd class in Israel.
comment in response to post
The equation of anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism is itself anti-Semitism. Incidentally there are many real Rabbis and many many jewish people (such as myself) around the world who are horrified at the actions of Israel. Zionism is a delusional political belief not a religion.

That is very good on many levels.

"Weapon factories" is a bit like the term 'Hamas'. For Israeli extremists it's just a verbal tool, convenient when addressing useful idiots. They are unimaginative as well as being mass murderers.

Melania is refusing to change his nappy this time and I don't blame her.

It's either that Morrison has fallen for a lemon or that he profits no matter what. I haven't forgotten the lies and the lies. There are holes in the AUKUS agreement you could drive a Virginia Class submarine right through. It's a house of cards conceived by bastards & it's about to collapse.
comment in response to post
I agree completely. This is all very white and, as usual, will be mismanaged. Defending Australia with conventional weapons is pretty well impossible but who says we are heading for a conventional war? If someone gets upset they'll nuke Pine Gap from space and move on.

It turns out that going overseas to murder strangers is not very good for you. No wonder recruitment is down.

This whole business assumes war with China. Are we so stupid that we will allow Morrison and Nine News set our foreign policy? We always fuck up with defence procurement so lets try peace procurement for a change. Sounds radical but have we had a go at understanding our supposed enemies?
comment in response to post
This is a Morrison trap. There's no proof we need them at all. Let's try spending just half on diplomacy then we won't have to have a war at all.
comment in response to post
I'm struggling to see the downside here. Bring down the facade, please. This is a Morrison concoction so, 10% smoke and mirrors, 50% lies and 100% bullshit. That dumb bastard Marles has been snookered. This whole business hangs on war with China, so let's just not have one.

There's very strong evidence that we have observed Orion for at least eight thousand years. Just one of the reasons is that it's appearance on the horizon heralds the Nile flooding season. Small comforts like this are important when it looks like the world has gone mad.

Compromising with, and thereby supporting genocidal psychopaths should be a rather greater concern than any domestic slurs. Our leaders should be standing up for principles despite the dangers not bowing down to mass murderers,
comment in response to post
Outsourcing wars is just as profitable as doing them yourself. The added advantage is that you don't have the awkward business of your soldiers returning in body bags. In any case it's the profits that matter.

It's not normal to put an institution ahead of its people. This was done by the catholic hierarchy and many of them are perverts. Elbow, Wong and the others are not smart enough to know what to do with power other than to hold on to it.

I have to say that her actions confound her reputed intelligence. Her use of bland clichés is sickening.

I feel much the same. In any case how could she, as a lesbian, vote against SSM? We were warned by that twisted thinking.
comment in response to post
The last thing, and I do mean last, that any modern country wants is intelligent soldiers. You must have been a misfit. One doesn't have to be very smart to learn how to bury blowfly and rat infested, irradiated bodies.

Turnbull is so far up himself he makes me sick. America first is not the spirit of the times. It's not the domininant world view. It's an ego driven sectarian catchphrase, its a part of US exceptionalism held by a few noisy Americans. Malcom outsmarted himself.

I would tell you but it's anti Semitic to say so. Furthermore if you look at the photos carefully you'll see Hamas to hiding behind the nuclear enrichment plant.

I can't for the life of me see what all the panic is about. If you read it carefully you will see that they are only going to invade if necessary.

Supporting mass murder and interference with foreign governments just isn't what it used to be.

The only investment more profitable than ecocide is genocide.
