I love the way @tetisknitgarden.bsky.social mixes botanics, Ukrainian folk art and design detailing to produce distinctive knits. For #wipwednesday here's my current mash up of 3 designs; Helica yoke, flared body from Polina vest and elbow length sleeves from Mimungo. #knitsky #findthejoy #knit

For #botanicaltuesdy I have chosen the apple branch as seen by Nehemiah Grew in 1695. The scarf is one of my interpretations of this image. One reason that I use stranded knitting a lot is because all the 'cells' are connected and dependent on each other, just like in Nature. #knitsky #botany

Two posts next to each other on my feed. @parkroseperma.bsky.social asking where the leading Democrats are when a colleague needs them, and @chronicleflask.katday.com promoting a podcast about how celebrities ignore abusive behaviour in order to keep making money. Connected. I think so.

Does this sound familiar? My yellow honeysuckle is just coming into bloom and I had yarn dyed with buddleia giving this vibrant shade, so my brain said to put these together and start another Honeysuckle Helix scarf. Happy Monday everyone πŸ˜„ #ShowMeYourKnits #knitsky #findingthejoy

For the purple theme on #ShoeMeYourKnits I had to share some of the natural shades given by logwood and elderberry. The cowl and mitts are two patterns I created using an image of a Thistle stalk under the microscope (link in alt text). #knitsky #findthejoy

Fancy diving down the very satisfying rabbit hole of dyeing wool with plants? The three for Tara shawl came from tea, madder powder and wool in two shades of grey. Strong colours first and then the taupe with leftover dye. No cauldron required - just a microwave 🌿. Alt text for website link #knitsky

Tara is now released on Ravelry with a 20% discount for the rest of May that I am donating to the British Red Cross. It comes in two sizes and different colour options. Knitted in fingering weight using bands of garter and eyelet lace and inspired by dandelions - Taraxacum in Latin 😊#knitsky

It's #wipwednesday and here are 2 (of many) of mine. Lt is Tara my dandelion-inspired shawl, pattern released tomorrow and rt is Helica by @tetisknitgarden.bsky.social inspired by trailing ivy. The yellow comes from dyeing with purple buddleia flowers. Me? Someone who finds plants awesome? πŸ˜„

Strangely, like humans, only a minority of twining plants are left-handed, binding from right to left. One of the 8% is honeysuckle, a beautiful UK native with a wonderful scent. I created a lacy convertible scarf in honour of my fellow lefthander. Details in alt text. #botanicaltuesday #knitsky

Fancy knitting a pretty little shawl inspired by an historical image of a dandelion root etched in the late 1600s by a pioneer of plant anatomy called Nehemiah Grew? Who doesn't πŸ˜„? The pattern will be released on Thursday on Ravelry. #knitsky #showmeyourknits

The contents of my buzzy knitting brain laid bare πŸ˜† Test knit for @tetisknitgarden.bsky.social , favourite Polina vest also by Teti Lutsak, trying out Latvian wool, designing a summer shawl, making a pair of trainer socks. The more projects the merrier. Agree? Happy weekend fellow knitters #knitsky

Apologies to hayfever sufferers, but for this #botanicaltuesday I wanted to focus on the subtle, intricate beauty of the grasses. They are in their full polleny glory right now, wafting in the breeze, trying to avoid being photographed 😊

It's #botanicaltuesday but for me every knitting day is happily botanical πŸ’š. I create woollen knits inspired by microscopic images of plant tissue. This is Zea, a crescent shawl highlighting the vascular bundles of corn, as you do 😊. The beautiful botanical project book is from #atomstoastronauts

Last year this Bugle was growing nowhere near the golden fern, but this year ... just look at that purple contrasting with the yellow! Gorgeous. Just letting Nature do its thing.

Anyone else looking forward to the weekend, sat with a cuppa, wrapped in a comforting shawl and thinking about planting potatoes? #knitsky #gardeningsky

OK. I got a little impatient and so Budde shawl is live on Ravelry from today with a 20% charity discount for the British Red Cross 😊. So if you are wondering what to do with five 50g balls of 4ply/fingering yarn and fancy a garter stitch/eyelet hug maybe this is for you. Link in Alt text #knitsky

Last Summer I made a hug of a shawl for the solstice inspired by the growth rings of trees and rays of the Sun. I had a think and decided to write the pattern properly, and in February I named it Budde as that seemed appropriate. Find it on Ravelry this Friday with a 20% charity discount. #knitsky

Yesterday's experiment with plant dyeing was to take dock leaf green and make dandelion yellow. It came out soooooo yellow πŸ˜ƒ. And they call it a weed (to paraphrase Gimli ). Link my process is in the alt text if you'd like to investigate #botany #naturaldyes #knitting #nature

Here's the socks I made for Christmas Lockdown. Well what else would a knitter do when they can't hug their loved ones? 😊 The pattern link is is the Alt Text. #showmeyourknits #knitting #knitsky

Here's one of my recent grey knits. It's the 'soon to be released' Yardana sweater from @tetisknitgarden.bsky.social . I was lucky enough to get to be a tester for this and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the knitting and the finished piece #showmeyourknits

Looking at this collection of my recent shawl designs, anybody'd think I was a fan of garter stitch and simple eyelet lace😊. My inspiration comes from microscope images of plant cells and the colours are from sheep or plants. The big one is Budde. Named after the bishop and released over Easter.

This is my test knit for @tetisknitgarden of the beautiful Yardana. This pattern was so intuitive to knit and is so comfy to wear. As usual with Teti's designs the inspiration is authentic to her Ukrainian culture and the attention to all those important details is there.
