Are they war? Is war doing? Do anyone know?

I challenge anybody to find a better system than "water boils at 100 hots and freezes at zero".

This discourse ATM

We’ve witnessing the downward spiral that that results when a political movement dispenses social and political capital for increasingly horrific acts of performative cruelty. Feels like we’re about to what sort of evil people in this country are really capable of.

Again, this is a hill worth dying on. Fight for it. Don't let them win.

This statement by Iranian, Kurdish, and Afghani feminists argues that we must oppose the US and Israeli assault on Iran while also refusing to endorse the repressive Iranian government. Genocidal imperialist projects will never liberate us, nor will patriarchal nationalist regimes protect us.

You can already see most of the 'usual suspects' gearing up to cash in on this crisis. Not even sure they'll break with MAGA so much as attempt to use us as leverage in sectarian battles with the rest of their milieu.

If the paleocons get pushed out of the MAGA tent, I'm really not looking forward to them hat-in-hand pleading for leftists and anarchists to take them back into some 2003-esque broad anti-war coalition after they have spent a decade so aggressively platforming neonazis and demonizing antifa.

Feel like I should be making a 10-post thread about the NY mayoral race but this headline kinda says everything much more succinctly.

Iranian feminists speak out libcom.org/article/iran...

Can someone make a TheyAreNotICE bot that we can tag when someone says "These guys are not ICE agents, they're private bounty hunters / J6 insurrectionists / Proud Boys", the bot replies with a patient, detailed explanation of why that's illogical and unproven and why it wouldn't matter regardless

Indigenous peoples in Colombia’s rainforests mount new resistance against an old foe: Canadian oil companies Gran Tierra Energy has damaged their lands before. The Nasa people are determined not to let it happen again LATEST for PWS (a deep dive) www.piratewireservices.com/p/nasa-peopl...

Anyone ever suggest to y'all that this is a little... religious? I just don't know how else to describe this stuff. It's far less about an objective opposition to violence than it is a puritanical fear of being tainted by symbolic representations of it.

These chucklefucks will be showing up to demos in the coming days and weeks. Don't let them.

True, but it’s far more comforting for a lot of (even ostensibly leftist!) Americans to believe that America is a fundamentally good & peaceful country and that its oppression of people both domestically & abroad is only due to manipulation or control by evil foreign actors.

The Iranian Voices Missing From the “Regime Change” Debate Pro-war voices who insist the Iranian people would welcome a war that would spell the end of the Islamic Republic are deliberately ignoring the desires of actual Iranians. newrepublic.com/article/1970...

Well, fuck. ☂️☂️☂️

This. Not working harder to sell the benefits of free movement is easily one of my biggest regrets about the last few years, but it's not too late to change that. This is a hill worth dying on.

If there's one thing I'm truly coming to despise about this brave new world we now live in, it's how common this kind of sentiment is becoming in 'polite society'. Nobody's embarrassed to say it anymore. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/19/o...

This week my dog achieved his life's goal - meeting that one mysterious critter with the big white stripe down his back. I'm now all out of hydrogen peroxide.

Gonna admit I had my doubts. Assumed they must be missing some niche far-right dogwhistle folks were missing or at least some far-left sect they were unaware of, but nope. After some investigation, it appears to be a genuine resistance-lib lost-causer - so "anti-war" they oppose abolishing slavery.

🚨BREAKING: We’re deeply concerned at the use of counter terrorism powers to target protest groups. This is the latest in a succession of measures taken by the UK government to clamp down on protest in the UK.

For all the talk lately about nonviolent protest, you might think people would recognize an absolutely textbook example. This type of action has been one of the defining types of nonviolent peace activism in the west for over 40 years now. Terrorism? FFS. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plowsha...

"At least 72 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire across Gaza since dawn, including 29 people who were waiting for aid trucks, Palestinian health officials say, the latest carnage hitting people desperate to secure food for their hungry families." www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/6/...

Very informative coverage in a chaotic news cycle

IDK if people have ever met participants in dreaded "protest violence", but one of the things that really stands out if you talk to them (hypothetically...) is how much of their motivation comes from being negatively polarized against anything remotely peaceful by absurd BS like this.

If you don't see the direct fucking line from the horrible discourse on here to this specific tragedy I don't know what else I can say on the matter.

What's common knowledge in your field that would shock outsiders? A bunch of paleocon associates of Pat Buchanan have been running one of the more notable "anti-war" websites on the net for ~25 years and to this day many popular "left" influencers are still happy to publish and podcast with 'em.
