The thing is, what kind of come back can you give? You say to him white is white He says no it’s black everyone says so. It used to be but then I came and fixed it so white is black now. How do you argue with someone who just makes up his own reality?

Not to rain on anyone’s parade here. We aren’t rejoining. It’s totally unrealistic to think we are at the moment. Closer alignment is the best that can be hoped for.

Because they won’t listen. If you try you are accused of being anti democratic or you get something they’ve been told about sovereignty or some other rubbish that they’ve been fed and now won’t let go of. They won’t be challenged. The best thing Starmer could do is work round them.

I think it is perfectly clear the Americans do not get it. Or do get it and don’t care.

In fairness, if the Dems buckled that easily to pressure and removed the only candidate who could beat the tangerine tantrum, the idea of them having the cojones to even attempt impeachment is comical.

Labour supporter here. Labour supporter who proudly voted for them last time and will next time. Labour supporter who also does not think we are addressing the reasons why people are turning to the toad faced bell end anywhere near enough. We must do better.

Just to remind certain people, she is obligated to do or say precisely nothing. The Dems buckled to pressure and ousted the candidate who had proven he could beat the tangerine tantrum, she warned everybody and they voted for him. That’s her part done. You don’t get blame her now.

Still remember Ned Flanders being ridiculously difficult to beat. “May the heavenly powers compel diddly el you!”

It’s not that. It’s the electorate has shown it’s easily influenced and the risk of it letting Farage in is too great. We can’t trust the electorate to back rejoin.

It takes steady reading, little and often, and a notepad to keep a track of details but it is so worth it.

It’s too late for that now. They’ve enabled and supported the orange chump for 9 years. They’ve made this monster.

An excellent week and half’s worth of conversations! Very thought provoking and challenging:) Here’s hoping you’re sitting in next time JOB is off.

In fairness I’m British so if the screaming me me does go all Hitler on the US it’s only going to partially effect me. I’m just looking at it from what I understand about the US political system.

Oh I think he’ll attempt all sorts but the fact remains he can’t change the constitution which he’d need to. I think the most likely way he’d try is getting the Supreme Court to rule it only applies to two consecutive terms.

Mathematically he hasn’t got any choice. He’d need to get vastly more votes in the mid terms to get a 2/3 majority in both houses.

He doesn’t have the numbers to change the constitution. He needs a 2/3 majority in both houses to make any big constitutional changes.

I wonder what could have been achieved had they been half awake in the four years leading up to the election? A full succession plan when it was clear Biden wasn’t up to it?
comment in response to post
It’s going to be a long four years isn’t it?

It wasn’t in the book though.

That’s not a Tolkien quote. It’s from the first hobbit movie. Still a very apt quote though.

That is a phenomenally sound decision. Bravo!

It really isn’t difficult. He used it for sports and stuff he was interested in. In accessing it for this, he encountered hate and a barrage of negativity. Encountering this however briefly while looking for his content affected his mental health and so he left. What’s not to understand?
