Oh hey, I'm proud to contribute to worker-owned and independent new site Skybox! This is my essay about having a stroke, losing the ability to write or walk or play video games, and digging myself out of that depressive hole using video games. It's maybe the most vulnerable writing I've ever done.

So I worked on a WW2 historical fiction game years ago in my life, and even without AI it felt like a dangerous line to tread, where we all *understand* game is fiction but the reality felt like people might use us as presenting facts to have the burden of research taken from them

One common sentiment I saw a lot from American hockey enjoyers was that watching the game was nice for having a distraction/time away dwelling on current political/world events. If you're an American reading this, just know that it is a massive privilege that those games got to feel that way for you

Same and I really gotta stress, not even trying to be spiteful/retaliatory! Trying to take us out at the knees economically is just going to make it comparatively that much more expensive to do anything in the US, and some people are already way too comfortable being monstrously cruel towards us.

It's the for-real end of the year, so time to count down Adam's top 10 video games of 2024! 10. SUPER MARIO PARTY JAMBOREE The addition of a Tryhard Mode absolutely won me over on this game, less (but not too much less) RNG and public bonus stars, weighted items/shops. The maps rule too!

I would appreciate help boosting this change request for Bluesky Moderation on Github: github.com/bluesky-soci... Currently in the @moderation.bsky.app defaults, Intolerance label is set to Warn, while Rude is set to Hide. This means that Intolerance is treated as a lesser offense than being Rude.
