From 1981-1993, we had 5 first-time champs. Since then: Zero.

Interestingly, Radakovich suggests if ACC does go to 9, breaking into divisions based on brands could be a path forward... "If the SEC goes to nine (conference games) we might have to go to nine as well with a bifurcated brands and non-brands [divide]."

Miami AD Dan Radakovich said that with FSU & VT annually on their schedule, they probably won't try to play ND every year, but would like to play more often. Also said if SEC goes to 9-game slate, he thinks ACC will need to follow suit.

While no one I've talked to thinks ACC-SEC rivalry games are in danger, there's worry about the future of other games scheduled between two leagues as SEC discusses possible 9-game conference slate. This agreement offers some insurance for Clemson should any of their 6 games vs UGA & Okla get nixed.

Here's our full story on the new agreement, which will run concurrently with the ACC's ND agreement but would supersede that in the event the Tigers should depart for another conference. www.espn.com/college-foot...
