Using the excel functions =COUNTA(range) for cells with data in them and =COUNTBLANK(range) for empty cells within a specific range on the sheet

If you've ever worked in an NHS setting you will have experienced the torture of several loudly ticking wall clocks, all slightly off from each other, and also too high to reach to take the batteries out!!

This is similar to my pattern of hearing, I have both neurodivergent hearing / attention, & also age-related hearing loss, which means that people speaking can become muffled by lower frequency sounds and I'm also distracted by the lower frequency sounds anyway... Hearing aids are helping a little

Ah you're very welcome! This is husband's favourite bit of the canal walk, he always stops here, so I knew it was worth a share. I hope that the rest of your week is calm and gentle and you get to rest some more soon 🌲

Me too! A slow climb to 77% today, but also still trying to make the most of the conference sessions (#SysMus25) and also have to work!! All time spent on the PhD is good time tho - we're doing well 💪🏻

Good question!! I got to 73% yesterday, but I've been at a conference today (SysMUS) so no further progress. Still more conference sessions and a job to do, but hoping to get the last bits done tomorrow & Friday! How are you getting on this week?

Yes! It lived on a trolly in the supply cupboard at my junior school, and got wheeled out for special occasions under the supervision of our headteacher. We also had a large "mouse" that you could program to move around a maze or draw shapes

Ah thank you, yes we've got a day trip out from Tokyo on one of our days, then going to Takayama which is smaller and calmer (I believe). Currently bookmarking lots of temples and parks to visit, but intrigued by minipig cafes!!

Good news, the feeders nearer the house have attracted a family of bluetits! Two parents and two youngsters 🐦

Oh absolutely understandable. I guess it's finding things that are useful for him and that help him retain some independence or a sense of control. You're a very good friend for caring so much

I know it's been in the news a lot because the government threatened to cut it, but would they qualify for PIP? If so, could they look at getting an assistant to support them with some of these tasks? If not, would be a conversation with social services again (sorry)

How about Silver Line? www.ageuk.org.uk/services/bef...

Ah that's a shame, it does vary by region unfortunately.

If he can write/sign a letter he could ask for a referral that way? Sometimes the GP will have a frailty or extra care list too, if they have, then they can arrange for home visits and extra check ins during storms/power cuts etc.
comment in response to post
There are also befriending services that could help with the initial adjustment, making regular phone calls and helping keep in touch with him?
comment in response to post
Check with his GP to see if they have social prescribing/wellbeing staff within the surgery, they can usually help to make links with services & groups in the local area that might be of use / interest to him. Also university of the 3rd age might offer some activities/groups he could join.

Giving this a bump - we're thinking 4 nights in Tokyo, 2 nights in Takayama / similar, then 4 nights in Kyoto. Will take day trips to Kamakura or Hakone & to Hiroshima. Any recommendations for places to stay or 'must-see' places to visit gratefully received #Japan #traveladvice #advicewanted

Yeah it's not the first time either sadly. Gonna move them nearer the house and see if that's less tempting to the mischief makers...
comment in response to post
Ah thank you. Going to re-site them nearer the house and see if that's a safer place...

Where did that money go? None of this can be legal, surely??

I, and many others like me, pledged our support (and money) for books to be published - now it seems that those authors are unlikely to have received any of our pledges...

That's terrible! I'm not practicing any more, but when I did I would both laugh and cry with my clients. How on earth someone thinks that they can relate to their clients and provide emotional support, whilst remaining emotion-less themselves, baffles me!
