I have even anecdotally heard of people who had terrible boomer parents who kicked them out at 16/18 so they could "learn to stand on their own two feet" and offered them absolutely no support because apparently being homeless builds character (but I've never met somebody who has been that unlucky)

There are lots of people in the LGBTQ+ community who kick their kids out as soon as they are legally able to because they "refused to reconsider their lifestyle choices" (or kids that leave as soon as they can because their parents are just that hostile) 2/3
