But AUTHORS are being asked to market direct to consumers, without a single tool to judge what is effective, and without publishers really even having the historical infrastructure to support that. And authors are held fully responsible for if a book succeeds/fails, in spite of having no tools.

Even if you start to define a woman in a way that includes trans people, you’re accepting that establishing definitions of who is and who is not a woman is the correct frame of debate. As soon as you start to answer it on its own terms, you've lost the venue.

Oh, it's worse than that. It's like the landlord picked up a broken weight machine on craigslist and put it in the entryway, so everyone has to carefully pick their way around it any time they enter or leave the building, and THEN raise the prices for adding a gym.

I love how they use the term "visionary" to describe the kind of vision your average toddler might have. There's no concrete plan, it's just "whooo, spaceships! Whoooosh!"
