"Liberal Democrats' role in British politics has never been more essential. Our precious liberal values are the only antidote to the growth of destructive nationalism." @eddavey.libdems.org.uk

This morning on @politicswest I made the point that if the government is really serious about helping more people into work then investing in health and social care especially mental health services is the answer. That's how to cut the welfare bill . Not penalising the disabled.

Dear President Zelensky, As it is likely that our paths will never cross in person, I could not let this day go by without trying to reach you here. I come to you humbly as an American citizen who is thoroughly and completely embarrassed of our leaders. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/to-preside...

@DavidKnopfler A good evening cooking listening to a brilliant album. Crow Gift. To everyone listen now. This land was made for you and me....

A wonderful Laser Show in Chichester tonight

Thanks to a local resident for this fantastic photo of the laser show held yesterday at Petworth House, paid by UKSPF funds from Chichester District Council.

Revealed: Conservatives spent £134m on never-used IT systems for failed Rwanda scheme www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

County Council elections this May should go ahead, any Conservative plans to postpone are fundamentally undemocratic. The Conservatives know full well they’re going to fare badly in the County Council elections - they’re grabbing any chance they can find to hang onto their seats.

This morning Ofwat have announced their proposed water bill rises for consumers around the country, with Southern Water customers being hit the hardest with a 44% increase for 2025-26. My constituents in Chichester will, like me, be angry and shocked that it’s up to bill payers to pick up the pieces

Chichester absolutly buzzing today. Thank you Chichester BID

If you look closely you’ll see my daughter’s hand as I wheeled her through the House of Commons to vote on proportional representation. Let’s normalise dads stepping in too when children need to stay home from nursery or school.

The Government have told the Times that it wants a top down reorganisation of local councils. I worry it will be an expensive distraction from delivering services and make councils more remote - all while ignoring the elephant in the room: social care! www.thetimes.com/article/4d4a...

🔴The Sheer Scale of the Conservative Local Government Auditing Scandal Is Only Now Becoming Clear Billions of pounds in spending remains unaccounted for, with the National Audit Office unable to sign off the nation’s accounts, reports @davidhencke.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2024/11/27/t...

A day late! This is just some of the things I got up to last week, both in Parliament and in the Chichester constituency.

Big day today - Joined BlueSky and found out I’d been made into a Top Trump card.

A stunning new #art installation on the south coast is attracting #controversy. Can #bluesky users name other much loved works of art that had a mixed reception? www.bbc.com/news/article...

Sir Tom wrote a book which he said was to raise funds for the NHS. He died, his daughter made herself head of his charity, and gave the entire £1.47m raised to herself. We really should be talking about prison.

I grew up on a family farm - I know how hard farmers work for relatively little profit. Food security is national security. We need family farms to feed our nation and care for our environment. The government must rethink the Family Farm Tax if they want to keep Britain farming.

"This tax is cruel on those families, but it's also incredibly stupid in terms of what it means for our country's ability to feed ourselves." - Tim Farron

"We are going to fight for our rural communities. We're gonna fight for farmers, we're gonna fight to stop this family farm tax. "I have just one ask of you. I want you to continue to do what you are the best in the world at doing: producing high quality food for our country." - Ed Davey

Today I met #MidSussex farmers here in Westminster from the NFU and the CLA It was clear that the government's #FamilyFarmTax will be devastating for them, their families and their ability to produce the food we eat Labour needs to #AxeTheFamilyFarmTax

Good to meet isles farmers Cecil Eunson and Colin Flett in Parliament today. That they were willing to make the not-inconsiderable trek from the isles to Parliament to raise their concerns about the impact of the Budget on agriculture should go to show just how seriously farmers are taking this.

I met with farmers today across the constituency. 🧵

Today I listened to farmers from North East Hampshire and joined fellow Lib Dems urging the government to scrap the Family Farm Tax. They highlighted the devastating impact this tax will have on them and future generations as well as the risks for our food security.

Great to see North Shropshire so well represented in Westminster today. The message to the Government was clear: axe the Family Farm Tax. You can sign my petition here: helenmorgan.org.uk/farmtax

Lots of people on this platform won’t know who I am yet - it says in my bio “writer and encourager of writers“ – here I am at the Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly Circus, about to work with three brilliant authors on three superb new plays.
