Found this clip on Instagram by @montemader.bsky.social about the article. Some good insights given here. Also some good context about why no one is believing Texas that this is for the safety of women.

Why? It’s easier to toss $ at tanks than do the work of protecting our health and education. Billionaires love chaos—it keeps the system rigged and their power secure. This isn’t just shitty policy. It’s a betrayal of every worker, family, and community that relies on real security—health security.

A small but supportive crowd of about 50 people. Four good speakers. Steady rain. Enthusiastic two-song presentation by DC Protest Chorus (? name)

Public transportation is filled with people from all walks of life. Excepting billionaires and Republicans, apparently.

Dog and pony show, Mr. Ivy. I recently heard you being tremendously dismissive of a constituent's comments at a recent townhall and lost all respect for you as a leader. Real leaders do better. Now i see you as short-term useful and long-term toxic.

Keep saying it. Say it til they/we're sick of it. Say it til you're sick of it. The majority They (including me sometimes) think they get it, but they don't. Many try to get it. Some do get it. We are baked into a culture of majority ableism. We just gotta keep pushing. Thank you and High Five.

Sen Alsobrooks has been weak right from the start. I am so disappointed. Talk about throwing your vote away.

Got it. I appreciate your response. People can get mindlessly hateful when it comes to organized religion (self included) and that's a loss for everyone. So yeah, I appreciate your graceful response to my mild attempt to course-correct.

Respectful pushback. As a Peace Corps volunteer I partnered with the local American Mormon group on a clean water project. Their only requirements were non- religious: a plaque on the project, documented commitment from community leaders, and no history of staffing the donors.

I make it a practice to not wish harm on others, but in this case, him weaponizing his good outcome (in the case he does not get sick) may justify hoping he gets a nasty bout of whatever bug is lurking there.

It's useless anger, but I am so disgusted with the director, appointed by Trump, who just resigned the position say he'd done all he could do. What he did was not lead. Not resist. Just effing rolled over like the self-serving, arrogant toadie that he is and that academics were too polite to object.
